Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Rosehill Gardens 4th June

Rachel King rode five-year-old gelding Surf Dancer to tactical perfection, and the race’s sectional breakdown shows just how much of a picnic she had in front.

Punter’s Intelligence recorded that Surf Dancer ran his first 1200m in 1:20.08, approximately 19 lengths slower than The Agency Handicap (1800m) in 1:17.00.

However, as expected, the race produced a high rating last 600m sectional relative to the entire meeting even after adjustments for age, class and additional factors historically.

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott trained galloper did enough between the 400m-200m sprinting that split in 11.27, which was enough to hold off the late challengers.

The six-year-old-gelding Skyman arguably produced the run of the meeting after having too much to do. He wasn’t suited after settling at the rear of the field in the farcical tempo and had to make a long-wide sustained run. Additionally, it was a day when it was hard to sweep from the back and win.

The Chris Waller trained galloper ran his final 600m/400m/200m sectionals in 34.39/22.65/11.57, which were some of the fastest splits of the entire meeting. He is ready to win in a similar grade.

Stablemate Solar Apex, whose intentions were to settle closer, became a victim of circumstances after beginning awkwardly. Further, he got too far back in the run and was checked/blocked for most of the final straight.

Even with all the traffic problems, he ran the entire meeting’s quickest final 600m sectional in 34.32. He is screaming out for a race with more pressure next start.

Willinga Ruffio looks like a promising winter prospect after a dominant display in The Agency Handicap.

The three-year-old led at a strong clip and ran a fast overall time, approximately 12.5 lengths quicker than the referenced Petaluma Handicap. In addition, the decisive margins confirmed the quality.

He is still learning but is on an upwards ratings spiral and can continue to progress through the grades.

African Daisy and Kopangi were both honest in defeat and smashed the rest.

The well-fancied Niffler had every chance in the Farewell Nevesh Ramdhani Handicap (1400m) but won in style.

The four-year-old mare sprinted the race’s fastest final 400m-200m split in 11.56 and maintained a strong finishing speed to the line.

She has an improvers profile, is consistent and can step again third up over further distance.

Lady Of Luxury and Deficit are both set to peak next start.

Ita was desperately unlucky in the Ranvet Handicap (1500m) after being checked/blocked at a critical stage. Still, to her credit, she picked herself back up again and ran the fastest final 200m sectional of the day in 11.54.

Night Of Power carried a big weight and had factors against it. Further, he wasn’t suited by the tempo, had no luck in the straight but still managed to run his final 600m in 35.45, which was just a tick behind the race fastest posted by second placegetter Nikau Spur in 35.44.

The Bjorn Baker trained galloper is suited back up in grade in a race with less carried weight, enhancing his key acceleration attribute.

Philipsburg is in career-best form and has run out of his skin after having the pace/bias against him. The four-year-old gelding made a long-wide sustained run and ran the race’s fastest 800m-200m split in 36.49 before peaking on his run.

Although the time wasn’t slick in the Bowermans Handicap (1300m) Osipenko, hit the line with merit, and he will be suited over further distance next start.

Fastest Last 600m: Solar Apex 34.32
