Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Rosehill 3rd June

Kerrin McEvoy stole the show at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday with the hoop riding five winners, and his effort on Al Aabir in the feature Listed Winter Cup (2400m) was a tactical masterclass.

The race was run at a farcical tempo, and McEvoy made an early move on the favourite between the 800m-600m using the gelding's lightweight to his advantage.

Punter's Intelligence recorded he clocked the race's quickest split for that section in 11.43.

The Chris Waller galloper duelled with stablemate Desert Icon for most of the straight, and he kept responding under pressure sustaining a long sprint. Moreover, it was a brave win, and he ran the race's second-fastest final 600m in 33.52.

He is a consistent type and a stayer on the up.

Pesto, who was well fancied in the betting, had the pace/bias against him, but to his credit, he hit the line hard and ran one of the fastest final 200m splits of the day in 11.13.

Shameless Miss recorded the race's quickest 600m-200m split in 21.97 and maintained a solid finishing speed. She is ready to win down in grade.

Resonator bounced back into the winner's stall when saluting in the Benchmark 72 Handicap (1400m) and ran slick time relative to the day.

After facing the breeze in a fast tempo, the gelding's win was full of merit, and he recorded an overall time of 1:22.46.

To put that into perspective, that was approximately 5.5 lengths faster than the Midway Handicap (1400m).

Space Tracker was solid in his OZ debut and loomed to win, running 11.11 for his 400m-200m split before peaking on his run. He is one to follow and will undoubtedly benefit from Saturday's outing.

The main talking point of the race was Gracilistyla, who was desperately unlucky and arguably should've won.

The four-year-old who was resuming built through his gears well, running 11.02 between the 400m-200m, but once he hit top speed, his momentum was entirely haltered and went through the line not tested.

He is suited in a similar grade and over more ground.

Although well beaten, a quick mention of Hell Hath No Fury, who ran one of the fastest final 400m sectionals of the meeting in 22.10.

The Benchmark 78 over 1200m produced a thrilling finish, and Devil's Throat made a late surge to score.

Kipsbay led at a genuine tempo running the first 600m in 35.24, was given no peace throughout and went down fighting. He bounced back significantly on dry ground, where he produces all his peak figures.

Devil's Throat kept trying to the line, made it back-to-back wins, and ran 33.52 for his final 600m.

Contemporary was the flashing light run, and he had to make a long sustained sprint and ran a slick 22.16 for his final 600m.

Battleton has had factors against him in both of his starts this campaign and is ready to peak third-up. He was held up for most of the final furlong but still produced one of the day's quickest final 600m sectionals in 33.37.

It's worth noting some other sectional performers on the day.

Bold Mac wasn't suited to the race shape in the Benchmark 94 Handicap over 1800m. He ran on hard and clocked the race fastest final 200m in 11.20. He is in career-best form and ready to win.

Deficit had the pace/bias against him and was mathematically out of the race. He ran the meeting's fastest final 600m in 32.91. Additionally, he can settle much closer with a more positive race setup.

Fastest last 600m: Deficit 32.91
