Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Randwick Guineas Day

Celestial Legend produced one of the toughest three-year-old performances in recent times to salute in The Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), and his effort was full of merit.

The colt had multiple factors against him, had no right to win, and he continued on an upwards ratings spiral.

Punter's Intelligence recorded the race was run at a fast pace with Fukubana clocking 58.55 the first 1000m.

Celestial Legend raced wide throughout, covering 1616.1m, the most ground of all runners.

Further, he was forced wider on the turn and challenged the entire straight but kept responding under pressure to run one of the race's fastest final 200m splits in 11.95.

His overall time in 1:33.94 was approximately 6 lengths quicker than the Midway Handicap (1600m) and 10 lengths faster than the Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m).

Militarize had his chance but was solid in defeat, running second, and Cafe Millenium ran a much-improved race.

He was run to suit but ran a strong 600m-200m split in 22.59 before peaking on his run.

Tom Kitten and Encap had no luck and should've finished closer.

Tom Kitten ran the race's quickest final 200m in 11.90 and is primed to win over more ground.

Consistent mare Lady Laguna broke through for her maiden Group 1 win in the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) and was perfectly ridden by Tyler Schiller.

The Annabel Neasham trained galloper had a race fitness edge over some of her key rivals and was too strong over the concluding stages.

She maintained a long-sustained sprint and clocked the race's fastest final 600m in 33.20, approximately 1 length quicker than the next best.

TAB Everest champion Think About It was restrained early from a wide draw, wanted to pull in the slowly run race and then made an early move at the 800m.

He exerted his energy between the 800m-400m, clocking 21.80 for that section before peaking on his run, but to his credit, he never shirked his task to the line.

The gelding will only benefit from that effort, and he improves significantly second-up from a ratings perspective.

Espiona was heavily backed throughout the trade and accelerated hard running the race's quickest 400m-200m split.

Passive Aggressive was returning off a 308-day break, and she showed a sharp turn of foot to score in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m).

She travelled well throughout, and when presented in the straight, she sprinted 10.46 between the 400m-200m, giving those settling behind her little chance.

The mare has a fantastic record and is proven in all conditions.

Aft Cabin was resuming over an unsuitable distance, and the late betting suggested he would only improve from the run.

He should've finished much closer after being blocked for the majority of the straight, but once clear, he went through the line full of energy, running 11.05 for his final 200m.

The Godolphin galloper will be primed for the upcoming Group 1 Galaxy (1100m) in a fortnight.

Forgive Private Eye after getting too far back with the pace of the race against. He built momentum and saved the line, running the meeting's fast final 200m in 10.89. Expect him to bounce back.

Switzerland continues to step from a ratings perfective, and there was plenty of merit to his performance in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m).

He had every chance but held his action well and clocked the race's quickest final 200m 11.93, approximately 1.5 lengths faster than the race's best.

He's adaptable, proven in all race shapes/conditions and profiles well for the upcoming Golden Slipper (1200m).

Straight Charge was brave in defeat after leading at a very fast pace, travelled in the inferior ground, and the other on-pace runners faded, bonusing his performance.

Bodyguard ran the race's second-quickest final 600m in 34.53 and will appreciate a high-pressure Slipper.

Fastest last 600m: Passive Aggressive 32.23
