Co-trainers Peter & Paul Snowden unveiled another Group 1 Golden Slipper prospect in Don Corleone, who was an impressive winner at Royal Randwick on Saturday in the Petaluma Handicap (1000m).
The colt's win was full of merit after being posted four-wide the trip, but jockey James McDonald got him to find a rhythm, relax and then show the key asset of acceleration.
Punter's Intelligence recorded he travelled 1005.4 metres for the trip, which was the most of all runners, and his final 600m/400m/200m splits were some of the fastest of the meeting in 33.28/22.23/11.36.
The well-educated two-year-old posted a strong figure and will only improve with race experience.
Kundalini was brave in defeat, running second after sitting outside the leader in a solid tempo and never shirked her task to the line, beating the rest easily.
To further the strength of her performance, the other on-pace runners were well beaten, and she clocked 11.48 for her final furlong.
The Gary Portelli trained Scorpion Jack ran hidden closing sectionals relative to his finishing position.
He got too far back after getting checked at the start and ran the second-quickest final 600m split of the race in 33.74.
High King was blocked at critical stages in the straight but once clear, he found the line well. He ran the third-fastest final 600m of the race in 33.96.
Coincide will be fitter and it might be worth forgiving Fleetwood who's starting price must be respected.
The Fujitsu General Handicap (1600m) was run at a farcical tempo, with leader Nothinsweetaboutme running the first 1000m in 1:02.04.
That split was approximately 8 lengths slower than the Midway Handicap (1600m) and 11 lengths inferior to the Benchmark 88 Ranvet Handicap (1600m).
Four-year-old mare Lekvarte had too much to do after being heavily checked shortly after the start and was mathematically out of the race.
The mare, to her credit, sprinted home some of the fastest closing splits of the entire meeting and made-up significant ground. She ran her final 400m in 22.38.
The Joe Pride trained runner has had genuine excuses her past two starts and can bounce back with a more favourable race setup.
Banana Queen had the perfect run but remains unbeaten this prep, and she clocked the race's second-quickest final 600m in 34.20.
Syrian Star was desperately unlucky in the TAB Highway (1100m) and arguably should've gone close if she had clear air.
Although checked at critical stages throughout the straight, her final 600m split in 34.28 was only 0.04 outside the race fastest.
The well-backed Smokeshow had every chance but scored in style with the blinkers back on, running the equal race fastest final 200m in 11.86.
Gallant Star found the line well first-up, running the race quickest final 600m in 32.24 and Ticket To Anywhere didn't have much luck but still posted the race fastest 400m-200m spit in 11.05.
A quick mention of Cuban Royale, who savaged the line to score in the Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m).
The eight-year-old wasn't suited but overcame that with a sharp turn of foot and clocked one of the quickest final 200m sectionals of the day in 11.60. He is in career-best form.
Fastest last 600m: Don Corleone 33.28
