Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Ingham Day

Loch Eagle snuck into The Ingham field after scratchings and the five-year-old galloper made the most of his opportunity with a strong win.

The race was run at a genuine tempo, with Punter's Intelligence recording leader Phearson clocking the first 1000 in 58.73, approximately 11.5 lengths faster for that section than the Benchmark 78 event over 1600m.

Loch Eagle travelled wide with cover throughout transit, and to put that into perspective, he covered an extra 5.4 metres relative to runner-up Attractable.

Further, he was exposed early, sprinted a slick 600m-200m split in 23.27, and kept responding to score over the concluding stages. The five-year-old is now ballot-exempt for the feature 2024 Group 1 Doncaster mile.

The Sara Ryan trained Attractable was gallant in defeat after always facing the breeze and was left in front a long way from home. To further the merit of his performance, the other on-pace runners faded.

Lion's Roar had slight excuses and, once clear, reeled off the race's fastest final 200m in 11.86.

The blinkers were a plus for Waterford, and once again, he was a sectional star, but he just got too far back. Moreover, he had to exert all his energy between the 800m-200m, running 34.78 for that section.

No Compromise is ready to win, and his run had hidden merit relative to his finishing position.

The Chris Waller trained runner was restrained from a wide draw and ran on well, clocking the race's quickest final 600m in 35.20.

Terra Mater has gone to a new level this preparation, and she was impressive winning the Midway (1200m).

She was run to suit but had to overcome difficulties, and once clear, she showed a turn of foot/strong closing speed. She recorded the race's clear fastest final 400m in 22.97.

The mare has now shown the key attributes of adaptability and acceleration in this campaign and can progress through the grades.

Poseidon Ruler ran the race's quickest final 600m in 34.59 and is now looking for 1400m.

As previously referenced, the Benchmark 78 Jack Ingham AO Handicap (1600m) was run at a farcical pace even after adjustments.

Aristonous was resuming, and his effort was full of merit.

The gelding wasn't suited to the race shape and had to make a long-sustained sprint with nothing to bring him into the race.

The five-year-old ran his final 600m in 35.09, the race's quickest. He looks to have come back improved in his second Australian prep and is suited over more ground.

Ita hit the line hard, running the race's quickest final 200m in 11.82, and Deficit is ready to peak over more ground.

Iowna Merc was 32 days between runs when contesting the final event over 1100m, and he just had too much to do.

The Bjorn Baker galloper wasn't suited to the pace of the race and had to make a long-wide sustained run, clocking the meeting's fastest final 600m in 33.44.

He is screaming for a more positive race setup and is set to bounce back into the winner's stall.

Stromboli found the line well and ran 11.73 for his final furlong.

Fastest last 600m: Iowna Merc 33.44
