Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Ingham Day

The Group 2 Ingham (1600m) produced an exciting finish with trainer John O’Shea saddling up the winner Kirwan’s Lane and Lion’s Roar, who flashed home for second.

Punter’s Intelligence recorded leader Wild Planet ran the first 1000m in 58.35, which was approximately 19.5 lengths faster than the Benchmark 72 Midway (1600m) and 5.5 lengths quicker than the Benchmark 88 Thanks Bob & Jack Ingham Handicap (1600m).

Kirwan’s Lane had a solid fitness base leading into this event, and the gelding sat handy to the fast tempo.

Further, once produced, he sprinted 11.49 between the 400m-200m, which gave him his winning break, giving those running on too much to do.

Sky Lab was the unlucky runner after being blocked for most of the straight but once clear; he surged to the line running 11.57 for his final furlong.

All the geldings runs this prep have had merit, and he is ready to win.

HK import Sunshine Rising was sectionally outstanding, coming from an impossible position.

Moreover, his final 600m/400m/200m sectionals were the race fastest in 33.92/22.54/11.51.

Huetor returned well, clocking the equal second quickest final 200m split in 11.65 and favourite Riodini was brave sticking on.

The second feature of the day was the two-year-old Listed Inglis Nursery (1000m), and jockey Kerrin McEvoy gave victor Saltaire a perfect ride.

The filly had every chance in the run, and when asked for an effort, she sprinted hard and clocked one of the fastest final 400m splits of the day in 22.80.

The well-fancied Facile led at a strong tempo and was given no peace throughout.

She showed natural speed running the first 400m in 22.99, and when headed over the concluding stages, she never shirked her task to the line.

The Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou galloper will only improve from the race experience and is one to watch next prep.

Arguably the run of the day came from Blanc De Blanc, who was enormous in defeat.

She travelled four-wide without cover throughout and covered an extra 4 meters relative to the winner.

The lightly raced improver kept coming even after a tough run-in transit and sprinted the equal quickest 400m-200m split of the race in 11.06. Follow her next campaign.

Sacrimony has come back improved this prep and is ready to peak third-up after a solid effort in the Benchmark 72 1100m event.

Anagain and Preemptory both had the pace/bias against them but still clocked the equal fastest 600m splits of the race in 33.38.

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace Nugget backed up his dominant last start win and won well even after carrying 61kg in the Benchmark 88 over 1600m.

He has a fantastic record and excels on dry tracks.

Salire had too much to do in the TAB Highway, but his splits were impressive and the fastest on the day.

He was 39 days between runs and recorded his final 600m/400m/200m sectionals in 32.32/21.67/11.07.

A quick mention of King Ratel, who overcame circumstances and won the Benchmark 72 Midway (1600m), sprinting one of the quickest final 200m sectionals of the meeting in 11.31.

Fastest last 600m: Salire 32.32
