Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Five Diamonds Day

The ultra-consistent Ellsberg continued his winning streak after a brave effort to salute in the inaugural Five Diamonds (1800m).

The five-year-old was rated well in front by jockey Tommy Berry leading at a solid tempo, and Punter’s Intelligence recorded he ran the first 1200m in 1:12.81.

To put that into perspective, he went out approximately five lengths faster in comparison to the Quayclean Handicap (1800m) won by Willinga Rufio.

He was challenged over the concluding stages by Sibaaq, but he fought him off and proved he could run the distance on dry ground at this level.

Laws Of Indices was backed into $3.80 late in the trade but didn’t have much luck after racing three-wide without cover the trip.

His run was full of merit after travelling an extra 7.9m in relation to Ellsberg, and he never shirked his task to the line.

Diamil, who ran on well, clocked the race’s second-quickest final 600m in 33.99 and Uncle Bryn was checked/blocked at stages but still ran the race's equal fastest final 200m in 11.61.

The Chris Waller import Longvillers looks to have a bright future in AUS after he just had too much to do first up. Moreover, he ran the race quickest final 600m split in 33.84.

The Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) was run at a farcical tempo, with the first 800m being run in 50.12, which was approximately 10.5 lengths slower than the TAB Highway Handicap (1400m) and 12.5 lengths slower than the BM78 Ranvet Handicap (1400m).

Sheeza Belter bounced back into the winner’s stall and relished being back onto a dry track.

William Pike rode the three-year-old perfectly, and when he asked for an effort, she accelerated hard and clocked one of the fastest final 400m-200m splits of the day in 10.67.

She is a lightly raced improver and will only progress in the future.

There were multiple key sectional performers behind, and More Secrets should’ve finished closer after being checked/blocked at critical stages.

Further, once clear, she hit the line hard and clocked one of the quickest final 200m splits in 10.97. She is in career-best form.

Charleise was 28 days between runs, and her sectional/ratings profile suggests she’s ready to peak third-up.

The mare got too far back and ran on hard, running a slick 32.93 for her final 600m.

Cliff’s Art was solid back to a dry track and Jamaea sprinted the fastest 400m-200m sectional of the race in 10.58.

The well-educated Barber overcame a poor start in the $1M Golden Gift and came from an impossible position to score.

The colt was run to suit with the leader Gitalong going out at a fast pace, running the first 500m in 28.84. In addition, the Godolphin galloper still had plenty to do and ran his final 600m in 33.86.

Infatuation was outstanding in defeat after chasing the hot speed, and whilst the other on-pacers were fading, she fought out the finish. Follow her.

The two first-starters Summer Loving and Maharba were both solid and will benefit from the race experience.

It’s worth noting Short Shorts, who won the Benchmark 78 Ranvet Handicap (1400m), ran a slick overall time.

He clocked 1:22.11, approximately 8 lengths faster than the Hot Danish (1400m) and 9 lengths quicker than the TAB Highway (1400m).

Tonneofgrit is ready to win in a similar grade and ran the race’s quickest final 600m in 33.58. Watch for him next start.

Spangler returned well and can progress through the grades this prep and is more suited over a further distance.

Forgive favourite Bella Rouge, who raced wide throughout and can return to form next start from a more suitable draw.

Fastest last 600m: Fox Fighter 32.74
