Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Festival Stakes Day

The combination of a well-judged ride and a dry track saw import Dajraan bounce back into the winner’s stall when saluting in the Group 3 Festival Stakes (1500m).

The race was run at a moderate tempo after adjusting for age, class, additional factors, and Punter’s Intelligence recorded the leader Coal Crusher ran the first 900m in 54.15.

Jockey Tim Clark rode Dajraan up early from a wide draw and slotted into a stalking position on-pace.

Further, he was produced at the top of the straight and with his lightweight, he accelerated hard, running his 400m-200m split in 10.90 and holding off the late challengers.

Continue to follow him on dry tracks where he produces his peak figures.

HK import Sunshine Rising was 671 days off the scene, and his run was full of merit.

The nine-year-old was caught wide throughout with the top weight and covered an extra 2.6m relative to the winner.

To his credit, he kept finding the line and posted one of the fastest final 600m sectionals of the race in 33.26.

He will only benefit from this effort and is a definite one to follow.

Skyman caught the eye after having to make a long-wide sustained run and clocked the quickest final 600m/400m splits of the race in 33.19/21.86.

His ratings/sectional profile suggests he’s ready to peak third-up, and a softer draw would be ideal so he can settle closer.

It’s worth noting Loch Eagle ran the fastest final 200m sectional of the race in 11.07.

The well-supported Mission Phoenix went to a new level again this prep after running strong sustained sectionals throughout and ran a slick overall time of 1:02.77 in the Benchmark 78, 1800m event.

His last few bounds were particularly strong, and ran he ran his final 200m split in 11.70, which was only 0.06 behind the quickest of the race.

He has been a revelation on dry ground with the blinkers and can continue progressing through the grades.

Worthily had every chance running second, but it was the run of a coming winner, and he beat the rest easily.

The six-year-old loomed to win but just peaked on his run but maintained a strong finishing speed to the line clocking the third-fastest final 200m of the race in 11.74.

Bacio Del Mist was 38 days between runs, back in distance, and outpaced when the sprint went on.
However, he hit the line hard once he balanced up and ran the quickest final 200m sectional of the race in 11.64.

A quick look at some other sectional performers and Kimochi had no luck in the two-year-old handicap (1100m).

The debutante was blocked at critical stages in the final straight and lost all momentum.

To his credit, once clear, he hit the line hard and almost ran the equal quickest final 200m of the race in 11.23.

Dehorned Unicorn returned in style, winning the Elite Haulage Handicap (1100m) and running a fast overall time of 1:02.77.

To put that into perspective, that time was approximately 1 length quicker than the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m), 6.5 lengths faster than the two-year-old handicap (1100m) and 5 lengths quicker than the TAB Highway (1100m).

In addition, he ran a slick 32.44 for his final 600m.

Mensa Missile did it on both ends, winning the BM 78 1400m event, and Banju’s run had hidden merit, and he is set to peak third-up.

Fastest last 600m: Dehorned Unicorn 32.44
