Punter's Intelligence Wrap - City Tattersalls Club Cup Day

I Am Me put her hand up as a potential Everest contender after winning the Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The mare was heavily backed late in the trade and showed great determination to hold off the late challenge of multiple Group 1 winner Bella Nipotina.

It was a clear advantage throughout the meeting to be on-pace, close to the fence, and the race produced a moderate overall pace rating.

Nash Rawiller rode I Am Me to perfection, showing patience in the straight, and when he pushed the button, she showed immediate acceleration.

Punter's Intelligence recorded her final 400m in 21.57, and she maintained a strong finishing speed to the line. She can improve again over more ground and has a solid second-up record.

Bella Nipotina settled midfield, got the breaks in the straight, and flashed home with her visual late strength backed up by the clock. She clocked the meeting's fastest final 600m in a slick 31.81.

Private Eye and Giga Kick were friendless in betting, and their sectional breakdowns suggested they would benefit from the run.

Private Eye exerted all his energy between the 600m-200m in 20.81 before peaking late. Giga Kick raced wide without cover and sprinted a solid 10.56 between the 400m-200m whilst carrying topweight.

Aft Cabin resumed as a gelding and had no luck at all. He was checked/blocked in the straight and couldn't build momentum, but his last few bounds/work past the post had merit.

Moravia ran hidden closing sectionals and ran 32.00 for his final 600m.

Manaal received a swing in the weights under the race conditions in the Furious Stakes (1200m), and she bounced back into the winner's stall.

She was produced early in the straight, built through her gears and clocked 33.25 for her final 600m. She is now looking for the 1400m.

Ameena hit a flat spot in the straight but responded well under pressure once James McDonald changed whip hands. She ran the race's fastest final 200m in 11.41 and hit the line hard.

Lazzura was giving away a fitness edge, and she tried hard to the line. Expect her to bounce off that effort sharply from a fitness perspective.

El Morzillo caught the eye and was luckless in the straight. The filly was slow out and blocked for a run at key stages but still surged to the line. Even with all that interference, she ran 33.12 for her final 600m.

Royal Patronage was making his Australian debut, and he ran slick time relative to the day after adjustments.

The six-year-old chased a very fast tempo, hit the front early and kept responding to run 11.69 for his final 200. His overall time in 1:20.41 was approximately 8.5 lengths quicker than the Midway (1400m).

Kovalica and Arctic Glamour both found the line solidly and ran 11.54 for their final 200m.

Two runs that had merit in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) were Adelaide River and Athabascan, who were both resuming.

Adelaide River drifted back from the awkward draw, built into the race, but was outsprinted between the 400-200 until he got his mind on the job over the concluding stages.

He ran 11.64 for his final furlong and looks primed for his most likely next target, the Newcastle Cup, over 2300m.

Athabascan made up significant ground by running the race's fastest final 600m in 33.67. He will be better deeper into prep but has returned in great order.

It's worth noting Powers Of Opal, who was arguably the run of the day after having too much to do.

She had the pace/bias against her and savaged the line, reeling off the third-fastest final 200m of the meeting in 10.95.

The filly is still lightly raced and on an upwards spiral. She is ready to peak third-up over more ground.
