Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Chelmsford Stakes Day

We saw a changing of the guard in the sprinting ranks at Royal Randwick on Saturday, with multiple Group 1 winners Nature Strip and Eduardo being retired after the Concorde Stakes (1000m).

Five-year-old Remarque put his hand up for a slot in the $20M TAB Everest (1200m) after a vital win and an astute ride by Tyler Schiller.

The race was run at a slow tempo with the gelding sitting wide throughout, and Punter's Intelligence recorded he sprinted a slick 600m-200m split in 21.52 and then maintained a solid finishing speed to the line to hold off the late challengers.

In Secret has returned in fantastic order and will be suited over more ground.

The Godolphin mare had to carry 58.5kg under the race conditions, and she surged to the line to just miss and ran the race's quickest final 200m in 11.11.

Bella Nipotina had every chance but showed a sharp turn of foot, running the race fast 400m-200m split in 10.61.

Jockey Zac Lloyd rated Pericles to perfection, where he controlled the race out in front to score in the Tramway Stakes (1400m) and ran 10.83 for his 400m-200m split.

The four-year-old ran his first 800m in 48.98, approximately 8.5-9 lengths slower than the Midway Handicap (1400m) for that section.

Further, he gave those settling behind mathematically little chance of being able to run him down, and there was plenty of merit in the back end of the clock.

Hope In Your Heart was resuming, and she had excuses in the straight, but once clear, she savaged the line, clocking the race's quickest final 200m in 11.26.

My Oberon sprinted the races quickest 400m-200m in 10.69 and peaked on his run late. He will be fitter for that and excels on rain-affected ground.

Be forgiving of the Chris Waller trained pair Olentia and Going Global, who both had no luck.

The Darley Furious Stakes (1200m) was run at a moderate tempo, and Tiz Invincible made it back-to-back wins this preparation, and she showed late strength.

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace filly had every chance in the run, but she picked up well when asked for a superior effort over the final furlong, running 11.42 for that section. She is an improving type, and continue to follow her.

Kimochi was the flashing light run after having the race shape against, and she clocked fast closing splits relative to the day.

Her final 600m/400m/200m was in 33.78/22.28/11.31, and she flew home into second position and is screaming out for further ground.

Summer Loving was solid in defeat after racing wide with cover, and Private Legacy ran a hidden 800-200m split in 33.42.

It's worth noting other sectional performers across the meeting and Rainbiel's first start for her new trainer, Joe Pride, had sectional merit.

She got too far back in the Benchmark 78 over 1100m after being restrained from a wide draw and made-up significant ground by running one of the day's fastest final 600m sectionals. She will only improve with fitness and can settle closer next start.

Saltcoats was one of the runs of the meeting after having too much to do in the final event over 1200m.

The NZ import built through his gears and hit the line hard, with him doing his best work past the post.

He recorded 11.61 for his final 200m, and he is one to watch over the carnival.

Fastest last 600m: In Secret 32.60
