Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Apollo Stakes Day 11th February

Star galloper Anamoe extended his outstanding career record, winning the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), and he did it with ease.

The race was run at a slow pace, and Punter's Intelligence recorded leader Hinged ran the first 800m in 48.96.

Jockey James McDonald used Anamoe's tactical versatility to perfection from an awkward draw and got the four-year-old into a stalking role.

Further, he relaxed throughout the run and put the race away between the 400m-200m. He clocked 10.80 for that split and maintained a solid finishing speed to the line.

He has returned in excellent order for his final preparation, and expect him to be hard to beat all campaign.

Returning Group 1 winning mare Fangirl was huge in defeat after having too much to do.

The four-year-old got too far back throughout transit and had to make her run through the inferior ground.

To her credit, she clocked the meeting's second-fastest final 600m in 33.00.

Follow her on dry tracks, and she will only improve deeper into her prep, as her profile suggests.

Icebath was solid, clocking the race second quickest final 200m in 11.34, and Mo'unga raced wide throughout, albeit in a slow tempo.

The two-year-olds continue to be a central talking point, and debutant Cafe Millenium put his hand up as a significant player in all the upcoming features.

The John O'Shea trained runner won the Pierro Plate (1100m) and clocked an overall time of 1:04.03 which was approximately 1.5 lengths faster than the Listed Inglis Millennium (1100m) won by Learning To Fly.

He was run to suit but won on raw ability and clocked one of the fastest final 200m splits of the entire meeting in 11.48.

The colt is still learning, will only improve with race experience and expect him to excel over more ground.

The well-fancied favourite Don Corleone performed below market expectations, but his starting price must be respected moving forward.

Although running slower overall time Learning To Fly's win was full of merit.

The filly added another string to her bow, showing the key attribute of adaptability and overcoming difficult circumstances.

Moreover, she covered 1111.9m, the most out of all runners and still clocked the race's fastest 400m/200m splits in 22.95/11.88.

She is a nice type, well-educated and has her foot right on the till for the Golden Slipper.

Kundalini was honest and stuck on the best out of the on-pace runners, and Lazzago raced well with excuses.

Ganbare was restrained early from a wide draw and was an eye-catching run clocking the race's fastest final 600m in 34.24.

The other feature race of the day was the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) which was won by talented filly In Secret.

Nash Rawiller rode the three-year-old patiently, and she hit the line in style, running the second-fastest final 200m sectional in 11.43. Follow.

Madame Pommery returned well and had to make a long-wide sustained run, and her final 600m split in 33.57 was only a tick behind the race best.

Revolutionary Miss may have SPed big odds, but her run was hidden relative to her finishing position.

The Snowden galloper got too far back and lost momentum at critical stages in the straight.

However, she still clocked the race's fastest 400m-200m split in 10.62, and her last few bounds were strong once clear in the final stages.

It's worth noting A Lot More Love, who although well beaten, ran the race's quickest final 200m in 11.37.

Fastest last 600m: Mabel 32.78
