Performer got his Golden Slipper campaign back on track with an eye-catching trial win at Royal Randwick on Thursday morning, which saw TAB trim his quote for the rich two-year-old feature to be run at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday week.

The son of Exceed And Excel sensationally dumped Hugh Bowman in the Todman Stakes over the weekend which prompted stewards to send the Breeders’ Plate winner back to the trials.
With Kerrin McEvoy warming the seat, and blinkers going on for the first time, Performer travelled strongly throughout before surging to the line under very little riding.
On Saturday, TAB eased Performer’s quote from $6 to $8 after his manners threatened to derail his autumn but after his impressive trial, his price was moved back to $7.
“Performer looked good in his trial so our guys trimmed him up from $8-$7 after seeing the horse appear to be back on track. One customer was really impressed with the trial placing a bet of $500 a win and $1,000 a place at $8 and $2.75 for Performer to win the Slipper prior to the price being adjusted,” said TAB’s Andrew Georgiou.
“We also firmed Santos from $8-$7 after his trial, in which he went quicker than Performer.”
Santos won by two lengths in a time of 44.14s, coming from back in the field while Performer stopped the clock at 44.31s.
