Outcomes Of Appeals By Jye McNeil & Mark Zahra

Licensed jockey Jye McNeil lodged an appeal against conviction and penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR131(a) after his ride on Fifty Stars in Race 9 (The Star Doncaster Mile, Group 1, 1600m) at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, 6 April 2019. Following a Stewards Inquiry conducted on Saturday, 13 April, Mr McNeil was suspended for a period commencing Sunday, 21 April and to expire on Wednesday, 8 May 2019 on which day he may ride. This Appeal was heard on Thursday, 18 April 2019 commencing at 10am.

The Panel gave the following orders:
1. Appeal allowed
2. Finding of breach of AR131(a) set aside
3. Penalty of a 10-meeting suspension set aside
4. Appeal deposit to be refunded

Mark Zahra
Licensed jockey Mark Zahra lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR131(a) after his ride on Power Scheme in Race 1 (Kings of Sydney Sport Mile, 1600m) at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, 13 April 2019. Following a Stewards inquiry, Mr Zahra was suspended for a period commencing Tuesday, 23 April and to expire on Sunday, 2 June 2019 on which day he may ride. Mr Zahra was also fined $3800. This appeal was heard on Thursday, 18 April 2019 commencing at 12pm.

The Panel gave the following orders:
1. Appeal dismissed
2. Penalty of a 25-meeting suspension confirmed, such suspension to commence on 23 April and to expire on 2 June 2019 on which day the appellant may ride
3. Penalty of a fine of $3800 confirmed
4. Appeal deposit forfeited
