Outcome Of Appeal By Licensed Trainer Tess Wilkes

Licensed trainer Tess Wilkes lodged an appeal against penalty after being found guilty by Racing NSW Stewards under AR175(h)(ii).

Following a stewards inquiry on Tuesday, 6 February 2018, Mrs Wilkes was fined $5000. This followed the detection of a prohibited substance in a post-race sample from Prince Coureuse after the horse placed first in Race 5 (Benchmark 46 Handicap, 1420m) at Taree Racecourse on 7 November 2017.

This appeal was heard on Monday, 16 April 2018 at the offices of Racing NSW commencing at midday.

The Appeal Panel gave the following orders:

1. Appeal against severity of penalty dismissed
2. Penalty of $5000 for breach of AR175(h)(ii) confirmed
3. Appeal deposit forfeited
