The Racing NSW Appeal Panel today handed down its decision in respect to the appeal of jockey Nash Rawiller following a breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for whip use on Think It Over in the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes conducted at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 9 April 2022.
The Appeal Panel determined:
1. Appeal against two-week suspension of the appellant’s licence to ride dismissed.
2. Penalty of a two weeks' suspension confirmed as per determination of the Racing NSW Stewards.
3. Appeal against severity of fine allowed.
4. In lieu of a fine in the sum of $40,000, the appellant (by majority) is fined the sum of $30,000.
5. Appeal deposit forfeited.
Written reasons for the decision will be provided by the Appeal Panel next week.
