New Sponsor For Grafton's Time-Honoured Ramornie Handicap

Clarence River Jockey Club (CRJC) is proud to announce the Ramornie Handicap sponsor for the next three years is the Grafton District Services Club (GDSC).

The GDSC has been a major supporter of the CRJC for many years providing the focal point for much of the off-course entertainment over the July Racing Carnival. In addition, the GDSC has been a Kensei Club member and has also sponsored a supporting race over the Grafton Carnival for the last 10 years.

The decision by the GDSC to further strengthen its support of the Carnival is welcomed by the CRJC. Importantly, the sponsorship will provide an opportunity for each and every member of the GDSC to attend Ramornie Handicap Day free of charge.

EO of the CRJC, Michael Beattie, said: "The CRJC are happy that as a consequence of the new sponsorship arrangements free entry to Ramornie Handicap Day will now be available to all Grafton District Services Club members simply by showing their membership card at the main entrance gates on Ramornie Day.

"This initiative ensures that almost everybody in Grafton will now have an opportunity of being involved in race week without having to put their hand in their pocket. I have no doubt it will lead to a bumper Ramornie Handicap Day.”

As a result of the sponsorship other local businesses will now have the opportunity to join the Kensei Club or sponsor the supporting race left vacant by the GDSC’s move to a major sponsor.

The Kensei Club draw for naming rights to the 2017 Grafton Cup will take place at a gala function on Saturday, 27 May 2017. Any businesses considering being involved in either the Kensei Club or sponsorship over the Grafton Carnival should contact the CRJC as soon as possible.
