New Racing Australia Chief Executive Officer Appointed

[Racing Australia media release]

The Racing Australia Board is pleased to announce Paul Eriksson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Paul was chosen after an extensive and extremely competitive selection process and will bring to the organisation a wealth of industry and non-industry experience.

Paul most recently spent over three years as CEO of Tasracing. He previously served as Group CFO for Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Clubs, Cronulla Sharks and their Property Development.

He also served as Acting CEO of Cronulla Sharks and was the founding CFO of the Greater Western Sydney Giants Football Club (GWS Giants).

Among his other experience Paul is a Chartered Accountant and spent five years as the GM of Finance & IT with Racing NSW as well as serving as IT Manager and CIO for various organisations.

Paul's strong and recent industry experience running a State Principal Racing Authority responsible for all three codes ensures he has a deep understanding of the industry and of what the industry expects and requires from Racing Australia and as a consequence is fully aligned with the vision of the Racing Australia Board for Racing Australia.

Commenting on his appointment Paul said: "Australia is a leading participant in thoroughbred breeding and racing globally and I feel privileged to be appointed CEO.

"I am excited by the challenge and look forward to working with all participants, Principal Racing Authorities, State and Federal governments and International Associations to help the industry continue to grow and excel."

The Board is advanced in the recruitment of a new CIO and COO to work alongside Paul and the existing executive team of Racing Australia as part of a commitment to resource the leadership of the organisation.

The former CEO Myles Foreman continues to provide advisory services to the organisation as part of ensuring a smooth transition for Paul and the soon to be expanded Executive team.

Paul will be based out of Racing Australia’s Sydney Office and will commence on 26 September 2022.
