Neil Evans' Tips For Wyong (Saturday)

By Neil Evans

Track Soft 7 and rail true

Race 1 - 1:25PM LIFEFUL NDIS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2100 METRES)

4. Deal 'N' Dash gets his chance to pay back punters after finishing down the track as a hot favorite at Canberra in a poor run; although was left wide with no cover from the half mile. Examined by vets and cleared, so best to go on that impressive debut win at Rosehill, and naturally will be far more comfortable on rain-affected ground. 5. Hampden is the logical threat after only missing by a long head second-up at Hawkesbury. 2. Koning has been disappointing this prep, but has shown some improvement as the distances have risen. Big gap to the rest headed by 7. Memphis Tennessee fourth-up over further.

Race 2 - 2:00PM ASH & SONS SUPER 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

3. Extreme Diva is a progressive metropolitan filly who is well placed to strike second-up. Took on Group 3 company in a mixed campaign last spring before spelling, then hit the line late in heavy ground first-up at this track to miss narrow as a heavily backed favourite. By renowned wet track sire Extreme Choice and drawn to get to the middle of the course over the final 250m. 6. Oakfield Jupiter is a locally-trained filly by Toronado on debut off a nice trial win in Soft 7 going. Was scratched from Gosford on Thursday to avoid a clash with the talented stablemate who then bolted in, and any rain-affected ground looks right up her alley. 9. Sosueme made a solid debut at Hawkesbury, sticking on well from the front, and bred to handle the ground. Keep safe both 1. The Warrior, by Saxon Warrior who debuts in blinkers having won both lead-up trials on soft ground; and 4. Mother Goose, a lightly raced filly resuming for Godolphin behind two trials.

Race 3 - 2:35PM API ENGINEERING 2YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

6. I Am Overs is an emerging filly who can open her account at only the second start. Hit the line late in a handy maiden at Gosford a fortnight ago on debut when very well backed, and she looks a typical I Am Invincible who can flourish on wet tracks. Drawn to get early cover. 8. Perle De Chocolat will appreciate being back in this company after being outclassed in the Group 2 Riesling behind Tempted who should have won the Golden Slipper a fortnight later. 7. Just A Journey, a filly by Justify from the Michael Freedman stable, starts her career behind two improving trials. 5. Dundeel Flyer, a filly by Dundeel on debut for the Peter Snowden yard behind two progressive trials; and 3. Alabama Charm who has also been accepted for the feature Wellington Boot on Sunday, can both run into the minor money.

Race 4 - 3:10PM REWARD HOMES PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

1. Piperita, an emerging filly trained on the track, shapes as one of the better bets of the day, especially if the track tumbles down into heavy range. Returned off a 25 week break to surge home from midfield and win with something in hand as a short-priced favourite. Carries only 1kg more after the jockeys claim and is drawn to get out to the middle in the run home. 2. Channelling must be respected third-up off a strong closing maiden win at Kembla on soft going. 6. Dusty Bay drops back from the much tougher Group 3 Pago Pago, and draws to get cover. Can't see the winner coming from anywhere else, but can pay to include 5. Bold Splendour second-up at big odds and back on preferred wetter ground; in all trifecta and first four plays.

Race 5 - 3:45PM PROVINCIAL-MIDWAY CHAMPIONSHIPS WILD CARD (1350 METRES)

6. French Ruler is a progressive three-year-old primed to strike fourth-up with blinkers on, and book his place in the Final at Randwick. Was under a half length from the winner in a strong Listed Canberra Guineas before working home okay in the qualifier at Newcastle. Early career form suggests he will get through the ground. 10. Harlow Mist is the stablemate mare in the John Sargent yard also peaking fourth-up on a nine day turnaround from the Newcastle qualifier where she struck trouble. Will appreciate a wet track. 7. Rolling Magic made up good late ground in the Gosford qualifier when coming off a month-long break, and is well over the odds. 2. Magnatear boxed on for a long way in the Listed National Sprint at Canberra three weeks ago, and will run this out, but still a query on a heavy surface. 14. Let's Go Again draws low, and is one of the better placed longshots, having won her only previous start in heavy ground. Both 1. Spangler who loves wet tracks; and 5. The Extreme Cat improving into his second-up run; are capable of finishing in the minor money.

Race 6 - 4:20PM PETER MAC'S MECHANICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

7. Cheeky Dancer can improve enough to win at her second start coming back from midweek metro opposition when clearly not comfortable inside runners on the Kensington track. May have to steer a course wider out in the straight, but gets the right run from off speed. 9. Ti Amo Tanto was also fair through the line when resuming at Newcastle, and is bred to improve on a much wetter surface. 3. Neptunite, a three-year-old by Shamus Award, is a big market watch on debut for the Waterhosue-Bott stable behind two quiet trials; while improving 1. Juan Pablo draws the fence for his second start, and is the best of the rest.

Race 7 - 5:00PM THE ARY TOUKLEY CONDITIONAL BM68 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

4. Glorioso is a talented wet tracker, well suited at good odds to make a big first-up statement in an open race. Was always in and around the money last spring including a narrow BM 64 provincial win. Has been fitted with two easy trials, and can settle back off the pace before launching over the top late. 1. Iconic Treasure improved sharply at big odds third-up here, and two of his three career wins from 11 starts have come in soft going. 3. Istolea Merc comes back to a more suitable race with some weight relief after winning two straight at Nowra earlier in the prep. 5. Still Alice fourth-up and 9. Party Doll who has beaten all bar the winner in two runs back from a spell; can both figure in the minor money.
