Neil Evans' Tips For Kembla Grange (Saturday)

By Neil Evans

Track Good 4 and rail out 3m from 1100m to WP & True the remainder:

Race 1 - 1:25PM WARREN SAUNDERS SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

6. Pelosa is a talented filly resuming for only her second start behind two improving trials, winning the latest at Randwick. Trial jockey sticks, and the stable has tinkered with the gear. 4. Seastraand is the logical threat and likely short-priced favourite after leading for a long way on debut in a handy Newcastle maiden when heavily backed from $3.60 into $2.20. 3. Maybe Now is over the odds second-up with winkers replacing blinkers; while 2. Azucar who gets an overdue drop in class at his fourth start, and 5. Alabama Hussy stepping up from country level second-up; can both add value into wider exotics.

How to play it: Pelosa to win

Race 2 - 2:00PM KINGSGROVE RSL MIDWAY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

2. Quartz Legend is an exciting three-year-old by Deep Field resuming, and the overwhelming one to beat. Dominated on debut at this track last November after being backed from $4.60 into $3.10, and looked right up to the mark in a recent Randwick trial. 5. Triple Yes is a progressive filly by a former Everest winner who stalked the speed and finished best to win here fourth-up. 1. Sunrise is trained on the course and a big market watch resuming off a dominant country trial win where she ran a slick time. Bred to handle soft ground if there are any downgrades. Big gap to the rest.

Race 3 - 2:35PM CLUB RIVERS F&M MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

2. Alabama Fox is an emerging filly who hit the line well on debut at Canberra in a handy maiden on Back Opal day, and the winner of that race is well above average. Had previously trialled well, and the extra 100m is right up her alley. 4. Heavenly Kiss is an improver who produced his best run third-up at Newcastle, attacking the line late, and will get a further edge if the track slips back into soft range. 5. Ivy Legend was unwanted in betting on debut at Rosehill in fillies and mares company, but can expect sharp improvement a month between runs and winkers going on. 8. Ti Amo Tanto is clear best of the rest second-up.

Race 4 - 3:10PM BAILEY INTERIORS CG&E MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)

8. Strawberry Impact is a tough three-year-old by Pierata, and ready to break through at his third start. Lost a plate on debut before stuck on strong at this track 18 days ago. Any rain is a big plus. 3. Not So Common is a sparingly raced four-year-old in the Waterhosue-Bott stable who hasn't raced since last September. That completed a three-prong and very ordinary campaign in Victoria, but given time coming back to NSW and two trials, he's ready to fulfill some early promise. Betting will be key. 5. Chief Of Staff, a Zoustar three-year-old on debut in blinkers for the Chris Waller yard, is another big market watch behind two improving trials. 7. Patissier can improve at his third start back on slightly firmer ground.

Race 5 - 3:45PM CANTERBURY LEAGUES CLUB PROVINCIAL C1 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

4. Rose's Legacy is a progressive filly well placed to claim a second win at her seventh start second-up. Finished off okay at Hawkesbury over 1500m when resuming, and no concern coming back a shade in distance for one who is fitter and will park on or right behind the speed. 1. Invade And Conquer has only been out of the money four times from 15 starts, yet still with only one win. That said, he hasn't been far away in two runs back up to BM 64 grade, handles all conditions and returns to where he won his maiden last spring. 3. Cosmeena can run into the minor money first-up off a quiet trial. 7. Burrowa will appreciate more ground third-up, and goes in all exotic plays.

Race 6 - 4:20PM MARTIN MINETT CLAIMS PREP F&M BM64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

11. Media Frenzy is a tough and consistent mare who represents terrific each-way value here, second-up. Beat all bar the winner in three straight runs across CL1 level last spring before a deserved win at this track. Hit the line late in similar company first-up at Wyong, afforded some weight relief, and the more rain about the better served she is. 13. Heat Missile is promising and a huge market watch having her first outing for the Waterhouse-Bott stable, with gear changes in play. Has been fitted with three trials for her first run since claiming a maiden at Werribee last December. 3. California Sunrise is a threat resuming behind two progressive trials for the Snowden stable. Only win prior was fresh when storming home from well back at Hawkesbury, and she looks ready to go off a lengthy break. 7. Broadway Follies is a lightly raced filly, and also returns off two eye-catching trials, winning the latest at Randwick in dominant fashion. Bred to thrive if the track is downgraded, although wins so far have both come against country opposition. 9. Let's Fly is a betting watch at good odds, resuming in blinkers behind two trials, and won her maiden here last spring by a long way.

Race 7 - 5:00PM ALT HOSPITALITY GROUP CG&E BM64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

14. Gone To Cape York has been handed a testing second start assignment, but has plenty of scope. Did enough to win on debut at Nowra as a heavily backed favorite, and while this is tougher, he did cruise home to win a metro trial prior in soft ground. Drawn out, but that might be the place to be late in the day. 5. Peace Centre is right in the mix third-up from a low draw after a strong win in weaker class at Hawkesbury. Was scratched from the opening race at Rosehill on Saturday to be saved for this. 3. Shirvington is shooting for a third straight win, but facing more depth this time. 9. Dashing Rupert is over the odds first-up with a gear change behind two improving trials. 16. Keikoku is the best of the rest reloading five weeks after a fast finishing CL4 Country C'ship Preview win, if he gets a run.

How to play it: Gone To Cape York to win

Race 8 - 5:40PM POLYTRACK PROVINCIAL-MIDWAY CHAMPS QUALIFIER (1400 METRES)

6. Silvanito is tough, and didn't get much room when it counted in the Hawkesbury qualifier a fortnight ago. That was his first run in six weeks, so is naturally fitter, and right at home in soft ground. 2. Broadway Bouncer made up a stack of ground into a place in that same qualifier, and is a knockout chance if a wider and off speed trend is in play. 5. High Dandy can run a big race fresh off two improving trials, and drawn to get a nice trail. 1. Flying Bandit has a 50 percent strike rate from eight starts, likes soft ground, and resumes off two trials. 13. Fugitiva is another local coming through that Hawkesbury qualifier where she was beaten only two lengths, and can peak fourth-up. 7. Prince Of Sorts was strong on speed winning a BM 64 at Wyong second-up in heavy ground, and the 10-day back-up is a strong pointer. 12. Tartana who draws inside fourth-up, and 14. Imposant with handy second-up form; can both add plenty of value into trifecta and first fours.

How to play it: Silvanito to win
