Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day At Royal Randwick

Royal Randwick hosts one of the most stylish days of Everest Carnival this Saturday – Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day – as the build up to the world’s richest race on turf continues.

Saturday sees the running of the Group 1 $500,000 Moët & Chandon Stakes for three year olds over 2000m, the highlight of a nine-race card on day five of the Australian Turf Club’s Everest Carnival.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained colt Thinkin’ Big is the $3.50 TAB Fixed Odds favourite for the Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes, ahead of Chris Waller’s Dealmaker ($7 TAB Fixed Odds) and Godolphin’s Aramayo ($7.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Three fillies – Frankely Awesome ($8.50 TAB Fixed Odds), Maid Of Heaven ($11 TAB Fixed Odds) and Panzerfaust ($41 TAB Fixed Odds) – are all aiming to become only the second female to win in the history of the race.

Saturday at Royal Randwick also features the Group 2 $300,000 Polytrack Roman Consul Stakes, won in recent years by some of Australia’s most outstanding three year old sprinters.

The Brad Widdup trained Sandbar is the early $4.40 TAB Fixed Odds favourite.

One of Sydney’s most popular mares – the Ron Quinton trained Dixie Blossoms – is out to create more history by winning a third consecutive Group 3 $160,000 Harrolds Angst Stakes.

Dixie Blossoms is the $3.70 second favourite with TAB Fixed Odds, behind the Chris Waller mare I Am Serious ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Royal Randwick Track Manager Nevesh Ramdhani said Saturday’s track condition will change rapidly if all of the forecast rain across Thursday into Saturday morning eventuated.

“The Royal Randwick track was rated a Good 3 at 9.00am on Thursday morning after 2.2 mm of rainfall fell,” Mr Ramdhani said.

“But with further predictions of up to 40mm of rainfall in Sydney in the next 24 hours, it will only be a matter of how rain affected we will be come Saturday.

“The rain looks to be easing by late Friday afternoon with only a sprinkling forecast for Saturday.

“At this stage, our best case scenario is a soft track, but it could be heavy depending on how much rain falls tomorrow.”

Ladies will be able to enter the Harrolds Fashion Chute on the Octagonal Lawn from 11.00am to win an exclusive styling session from Harrolds, valued up to $1,500; fully flexible Economy Class return tickets from Sydney to any one of Emirates 40 European Destinations; cash prizes; a magnum of Moët & Chandon Rose; Harrolds Gift Card; Gold Class Cinema Vouchers and accommodation and dining at The Star.

Moët & Chandon pop-up bars will be across Members and public areas.

The popular The Mews food precinct continues on Saturday and again at The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on 13 October.

Travel to and from Royal Randwick on Sydney trains, buses, ferries and light rail services is included in your event ticket.

Tickets for all ATC racedays, Everest Carnival and Spring Carnival are now on sale.

Royal Randwick and all ATC racecourses provide free parking and free high capacity WiFi.
