Longines Golden Slipper Carnival Begins At Rosehill Gardens

The 2018 Longines Golden Slipper begins in style this Saturday, 17 March with Chandon S Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens and the running of the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic.

Olympic Gold Medalist and Casula-local Chloe Esposito will help launch the Carnival and be on the judges’ panel at the Harrolds Fashion Chute competition.

Joining Chloe will be Epping-born K-pop sensation and recently-crowned Bachelor of the Year 2018 winner, Kevin Kim.

The Fashion Chute on Chandon S Ladies Day welcomes the Australian Turf Club’s new and exclusive fashion partner, Harrolds.

The Harrolds Fashion Chute winners can share in over $50,000 in prizes across four competition days – Chandon S Ladies Day, Longines Golden Slipper Day and The Championships Day 1 and 2.

Contestants can register at the Harrolds Fashion Chute photowall opposite the Members turnstiles and in the Members Reserve from 10.45am.

All patrons can access some of the best gourmet street food by Trinhy’s Vietnamese, Eat Greek, Caminito South American, Hard Style Smoked American BBQ, Busfood and the James Squire Beer Garden, at the Eats at the Gardens precinct.

Additional entertainment and activities throughout the carnival will include the Toni&Guy Gold Lounge complimentary blow-dry, make-up touchups, fashion illustrations, pop-up bars including the Chandon S Easy Chic tram, and live DJs.

On the track, the first Group 1 of the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival, the $600,000 Coolmore Classic, sees a big field of 19 runners, with some of the best fillies and mares in Australia and New Zealand.

Tim Martin-trained Heavens Above ($21.00 TAB Fixed Odds) is aiming to join the history books alongside Sunline (2000, 2002) as the only mare to win multiple renewals of the race.

The countdown to Sydney’s iconic race the $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper continues on Saturday, with final lead up races set to further shape Rosehill Gardens’ glamour event.

It is a final chance for juveniles to qualify for Group 1 $3.5million Longines Golden Slipper with the winner of the Group 3 $175,000 Canadian Club Magic Night Stakes and the Group 3 $175.000 Café Culture + Insitu Pago Pago Stakes gaining ballot exemption.
