Kembla Grange Winners - Tips For Saturday 11th January

Tips and race by race preview by Jack Webster for Saturday’s Kembla Grange meeting. Selections based on a Heavy track.

Race 1 - 1:53PM JOIN THE 2025 WARRA CLUB BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

2. So Sleek thrives on wet tracks with both career wins coming on heavy ground. Most notable was his win over this distance at Newcastle in previous campaign. Even effort at Eagle Farm last start but showed great ability when narrowly missing out at Rosehill in the race prior, making good ground late in the race to finish second. Inside draw and favourable conditions make him a strong contender. 3. Tenniel showed improvement second up at Canberra, leading throughout but narrowly losing in the final strides. She’s fitter third up, with a 3kg claim and a favourable draw. Won when third up last campaign, suggesting she can be competitive here. 5. Montgomery didn’t find the 1300m at Randwick ideal first up, though finished well. last start at Warwick Farm had mitigating circumstances. The return to a suitable distance here gives him another chance. 1. Adios Steve put up a solid effort last start at Beaumont finishing a close third in a competitive race. The rise in distance poses a challenge, but he has the form to remain competitive.

Race 2 - 2:28PM PFD FOOD SERVICES SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1300 METRES)

8. Reasonable has been a consistent performer after placing in 6 of her 10 starts. She delivered a strong showing at Beaumont in her most recent start, finishing second to a standout winner but beating the rest of the field decisively. Sound effort at Hawkesbury in the prior race. She’s proven on wetter tracks and looks well-placed from the inside gate to be a key threat. 5. Homeric is second up after a promising debut where he led but started his run too early, fading late and being chased down in final moments. With that experience under his belt, he can show natural improvement and prove more competitive this time around. 7. Montigo Bay displayed encouraging form earlier this campaign including a placing here two starts back. While her latest run was underwhelming, she’s fitter for the quick turnaround and can bounce back. 4. Field Master debuts for the Chris Waller stable and has shown good signs in trials leading up to this race. He’s one to watch with potential to make an impact first up.

How to play it: Reasonable WIN ($2.60 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 3 - 3:03PM BRADLEY PHOTOS CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

3. Full Metal Jacket produced a determined effort last start here, recovering from a slow start and a wide position to run on from the rear and place third. He’s won over this distance last campaign and well-suited to deliver again. 5. Unleeshing has been consistent across her four starts highlighted by a debut win at Mudgee and two runner-up finishes at Rosehill in following races. Her last start at Canterbury can be forgiven as she left her run too late. With a one-week turnaround she’s fitter and capable of bouncing back to her earlier form, particularly on a heavy track where she’s seen success previously. 4. Zousain Bolt has been consistent across his five starts including a win at this distance in his previous campaign. Resuming now and fitter second up, he’s among the more competitive runners in this field. 2. Summer Soiree has also showed consistency in nine career starts, kicking off this campaign with a second at Hawkesbury followed by a dominant eight length win at Wyong. Can build off that and replicate that effort.

How to play it: Full Metal Jacket WIN ($12 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 4 - 3:38PM TOLLENO CRANE HIRE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Cool Blaze impressed on debut at this track, leading throughout and only narrowly being caught in the final strides. With a similar setup in this race he’s well-positioned to capitalize and go close again. 1. Money Team has been on the verge of a breakthrough for quite some time now after finishing runner up in his last three starts. Returns from a lengthy spell but trial winner in preparation for this one and looks primed to pick up previous form first up. 2kg claim engaged but will need to overcome wide draw. 12. Mia showed potential in her debut at Newcastle before her spell. After an impressive trial win and placing leading up to this race she’s well-drawn and can be competitive first up. 6. Chilli Crab has had two trials in preparation for this one finishing second in most recent.

How to play it: Cool Blaze WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 5 - 4:13PM THE HUNTER MEDIA CO CONDITIONAL BM 68 HANDICAP (1600M)

7. California Waves has been a model of consistency with a win and two placings from four starts. His maiden victory second up at Hawkesbury showcased his ability, and he followed up with a strong placing here last start. With a favorable draw and the added benefit of a 2kg claim, he looks well-positioned to deliver another competitive performance. 4. Mega Fight consistently found the placings last campaign with seven from eight starts, but has turned that form into victories this time around, winning his last two starts. Back at his home track and poised to make it three in a row. 3. Jacob’s Time has been in solid form going close at Randwick last start and a win at Hawkesbury in the race prior. Both previous wins came on rain-affected ground which suits him well. 6. Blesstas claimed victory here two starts back before a less inspiring run at Nowra last start. With proven ability at this venue, he remains a competitive chance.

How to play it: California Waves WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 6 - 4:53PM CLEANING WORLD WOLLONGONG MIDWAY MDN PLATE (1500M)

4. Cold Brew finished runner-up in both career starts so far, most recently at Canterbury where he chased well but just missed. The rise in distance should suit, but he’ll need to overcome a wide draw to make another impact. 12. Cuban Rain showed good determination here at her home track last start, finishing second after recovering from a tricky position. A repeat of that effort would see her in contention again. 1. Irish Anthem didn’t show much in trials but has a proven record at this track from last campaign. Could improve back on familiar ground. 11. Ciao Bella Mia has put in steady performances at her home track and shown she can handle wide barriers. If given the right race setup, she could spring a surprise.

How to play it: Cold Brew WIN ($2.20 TAB Fixed Odds)

Race 7 - 5:33PM MITCH BEER RACING PROVINCIAL BM 64 HANDICAP (1400M)

4. Tartana has shown a liking for this track, with a strong record of a win and three placings from five starts here. Runner-up when resuming and capable on rain-affected ground, she looks set to be a major contender. 14. Your Not the Boss has demonstrated consistent form recently, narrowly missing at Moruya after a freshen-up and delivering a solid third-place finish here last start. Facing a similar task this time and well-placed for another competitive showing. 13. Lights Of Paradise brings an impressive strike rate to this race with two wins and two placings from five starts. Proven on wet tracks and with a favourable draw, she shapes as a strong threat. 6. Wizards ended last campaign with a win and returns off a trial victory, indicating readiness for a strong first-up performance.
