Kembla Grange Racecourse Gears Up For Six-Day Autumn Carnival

The time-honoured Kembla Classic will kick off a bumper 2025 Autumn Carnival at Kembla Grange Racecourse.

The Group 3 $250,000 (1600m) for three-year-old fillies will headline the program on Friday 14th March, supported by the A.J. Bert Lillye Memorial Handicap and The Stayers Cup.

It’s the first of six race meetings over the 11-week carnival which promises Metropolitan-quality racing on the coast.

With a variety of themes, entertainment, hospitality offerings and family-friendly activities, the 2025 Kembla Grange Autumn Racing Carnival has something for everyone.

“Over spring we had record crowds through the gates, especially for The Gong, so our Autumn Carnival has been tailored to cater to that demand,” said Illawarra Turf Club's CEO Steven Keene.

“We’ve noticed an increased appetite for experiences among young people so we will be partnering with local businesses and service providers to deliver memorable days at the track.”

Kembla Grange’s race meeting on Saturday 22nd March, sponsored by Calvary Health Care, runs simultaneously with Rosehill Gardens’ famous Golden Slipper.

Locally, the most hotly contested race will be the $150,000 Provincial-Midway Championships where the best provincially trained horses will vie for a place in the $1 million Final at Royal Randwick on Saturday 12th April.

Get ready for Family Fun Day on Easter Saturday (19th April). Book a seat in the Lawn Marquee and relax with a picnic while the kids enjoy free activities including pony rides, face painting, giant games and more.

It’s all about the girls on Saturday 10th May for Ladies Day. The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is the place to be and there will be activations around the racecourse to make every lady feel special.

Racegoers are encouraged to show off their style in Fashions on the Field for a chance to win some great prizes.

Dust off those cowboy boots and saddle up for Country Music Day on Saturday 17th May. Local and visiting artists will perform toe tapping tunes in between races, food trucks will be serving up American barbecue delights including smoked meats and loaded fries, and there will be prizes for the best dressed in country theme.

The Autumn Carnival draws to a close on Saturday 31st May with DJs playing all day, the Henry Clive Bar serving its popular cocktails, and more entertainment to be announced.
