Jockey Quotes - Winx Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $500,000 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Tim Clark (Kolding): “I thought he ran really well. Just a muddling run race and we couldn’t build momentum but I was happy with his performance.”

James Innes (Think It Over): “He began really well. Travelled really well. If we had been a bit smoother, he got out with more momentum he would have been hard to beat.”

Hugh Bowman (Cascadian): “Fantastic first up run. He’s in for a great spring campaign.”

Andrew Adkins (Dreamforce): “Huge effort first up. A lot of pressure underneath us early in the race. Got some nice sectionals and battled on. Only the last 50m they got him.”

Kathy O'Hara (Imaging): “Good effort. Slowly run race and I was held up at the top of the straight. Good late.”

Jay Ford (Star Of The Seas): “We rode him positively today. He got over-racing pretty much throughout and left himself with no finishing effort.”

Glen Boss (Keiai Nautique): “He was outstanding. One to watch for the future.”

Regan Bayliss (Master Of Wine): “He ran an incredible race. We were on the winner’s back the whole way. Mo’Unga sprinted at the top of the straight. Left us a little flat footed. He got unbalanced for a stride but once we balanced up he was good through the line.”

Josh Parr (Mount Popa): “Nice return from him. Obviously it was a distance not quite suited to him today.”

James McDonald (Verry Elleegant): “Good return. She tried very hard.”

Jason Collett (She's Ideel): “Great run.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Hungry Heart): “Great run. We got interfered with. She should have finished closer.”
