Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Group Two Shorts at Royal Randwick.
Hugh Bowman (Redzel): “He is a fit horse, has residual fitness from Brisbane and is the most improved sprinter in the country. He won’t run further than 1200m but he is a Group One winner at the distance and I would love to be on him in The Everest if Kerrin is not available.”
Brenton Avdulla (Chautauqua): “Terrific, obviously a month until the grand final, couldn’t be happier. If it was 1200m today he probably runs over the top of them.”
Tim Clark (Takedown): “He obviously didn’t come up last preparation, but that return was much more pleasing. Probably looking for 1400m now he’s a bit older. “
Tye Angland (Fell Swoop): “I thought he went well, he had a good run throughout, I think he’ll improve a lot of that. He pulled up and had a good blow but he cleared his wind pretty quick, nice horse.”
Blake Shinn (English): “I thought she ran really well, the first 100m they didn’t go as quick as I would have liked and I drew awkwardly. I had to go forward and it probably told a bit late after I got caught wide. She’ll take good improvement from the run and expect a good run next start.”
Glyn Schofield (Ball Of Muscle): “Pleasing return, showed a lot of fight today.”
Jason Collett (After All That): “Not a bad return from my horse, up a lot in grade today but I felt he ran alright.”
Andrew Adkins (Eckstein): “Great run, she’s in great form she needed that run to settle her nerves a little bit, going forward she’s in great condition, she does need that little bit further.”
Corey Brown (Nieta): “Ran really well, if there had of been a bit more cut in the track she definitely runs a clear second. She was a bit reluctant to switch her lead leg on the firm surface.”
