Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Listed $500,000 Sydney Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick, won by In Her Time. Corey Brown (In Her Time): “I thought they would have gone a bit quicker to be honest and we would be one pair further back. She had a really soft run from a bit of a tricky barrier, positioned up the one and one, she ambled up the rise. I was very confident on her. She is a lovely horse. It is strange she didn’t end up in The Everest but she’s got the consolation anyway. I’m very happy for the connections and trainer Ben Smith. He’s only got a small team but he’s got a handy horse on his hands.”
Hugh Bowman (Impending): “First up run, very pleased with him. He’s in for a good campaign.” Kerrin McEvoy (Ball Of Muscle): “Great run. He got in his preferred spot up near the front there and just started to wilt only the last 20 yards but held on nicely for third.” Tim Clark (Takedown): “Just staying at 1200m third up he didn’t have the speed in the legs and probably looking for 1400m.” Kevin Forrester (Jungle Edge): “Good. Very happy with the horse, travelled nice. Would’ve liked a half inch of rain if we could but it might come next week or the week after, we might stick around.” Craig Williams (Kuro): “He drew barrier 13, I was able to go in nine horses but still four wide throughout the race and it was a complete forgive run.” Blake Shinn (Japonisme): “He ran okay but he’s just past his best at the moment.” Grant Buckley (The Monstar): “Really good run. Really strong late and if he had a little bit more bang out of the track he would’ve been right there for sure.” Regan Bayliss (Derryn): “Looking for wet tracks.” Brenton Avdulla (Kaepernick): “I thought he ran well. Hughie and I went for the same run at the top of the straight, he got the better of me and probably should’ve run fourth.” Josh Parr (Washington Heights): “He was a little bit unlucky. The 1200m speed sorted him out coming back from 1500m. I didn’t have the most pleasant run through there, he might’ve been a little stiff not to really fight it out.” Adam Hyeronimus (The Virginian): “Broke good but raced very one-paced from then onwards.” Jason Collett (Bonny O’Reilly): “Failed to jump. Failed to travel. Just not there.” Tye Angland (Quatronic): “Just not quite good enough today. That’s a pretty hot field and we a did a little bit of work early but he was beaten a long way.” Check out the replays and results for Everest Day at Royal Randwick
