Dothraki broke his drought in the stewards' room, having the result overturned due to Sprightly Lass ducking out in the $150,000 G3 Schweppes Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m).
Dothraki won the race on protest
Tye Angland (Dothraki): “Really good. I’m going to go look at the film, I believe the winner ran out under me about 50m from the line so I’m pretty confident.”
Craig Williams (Nieta): “We had a lot of work to do to catch the eventual first past the post. I thought she was really good on the bridle the first part of the straight, but she was a little bit plain late. First up run she’s entitled to some improvement.”
Tim Clark (Palazzo Pubblico): “Not good enough.”
Jess Taylor (Isorich): “Super first up run, he towed them up to the leader, he went really well just got a bit tired late.”
Jason Collett (Hieroglyphics): “Just fair.”
Michael Walker (New Universe): “Ran a good race, just wish it was 50m longer. I was 3-4L in front after the post. He’ll be spot on for two weeks' time.”
Shaun Guymer (Latin Boy): “He was a bit fired up pre-race, got to the gates and sort of had run his race. He’ll go for a spell now and come back much better and more experienced.”
Rachel King (Secret Trail): “Really super run first up, she’s only going to get better and she hit the line hard.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Gibraltar Girl): “Ran well but just ended up too far back from the barrier.”
Brenton Avdulla (Sprightly Lass): “I tried to get her to come back to me a little bit but she still raced a bit fresh. She was going to be found wanting late but she got the bob. She’s still learning her craft but she is a very quick mare. Ability wise she can go better but distance wise she probably can’t go much further, she has to learn how to settle.”
