Jockey Quotes - Light Fingers Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $250,000 TAB Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick.

Nash Rawiller (In Secret): “When you're on a filly like her there's no panic and it's just making sure you don't make a blue. Although they sort of kicked away from us a bit turning in, I didn't want to be the first one out chasing them either.

“She'd made a bit of ground along the fence there and I didn't want to be the first one under pressure. So I just bided my time for another 50-100m and I knew that she would make me look good late.

“I just get the impression, after riding her in the trial and today, that she was going to be vulnerable. You've got to ride her nice and we wanted her to come through the run well. The world's her oyster, she's a really exciting filly.”

In Secret wins the Light Fingers Stakes

Ryan Maloney (Sunshine In Paris): “Huge run. Obviously stepping up in grade as we all knew. She acquitted herself very well. Heads to the Surround, 1400m, which will be right up her alley.”

Sam Clipperton (Cinderella Days): “Might effort. Had the race won until probably the last 50m. She was beaten by a very good filly in In Secret. I think my filly has returned in very good order.”

Jason Collett (Madame Pommery): “Very good return. Gave them a start and finished it off well.”

Brenton Avdulla (Fireburn): “Happy enough. She gave me a lovely ride, did everything right. Thought she presented to run top three and just maybe ran out of a bit of condition late. Probably appreciate a bit of moisture in the track.”

William Pike (Sheeza Belter): “It was a good hit out for her. She will improve.”

Tim Clark (North Star Lass): “She ran well. She stayed on well. May just be looking for the 1400m now.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Revolutionary Miss): “Great run first run back. If she just had a bit of room she would have really unleashed. In for a great prep.”

James McDonald (Wolverine): “She had a tough run.”

Regan Bayliss (A Lot More Love): “Back from the wide barrier. Really happy with the way she went through the line. Will be better suited to seven furlongs. Has come back in good order.”

Chad Schofield (Razeta): “She ran really well. Took a while to hit top gear but once she found it she really hit the line strongly.”

Tom Sherry (Byron Belle): “That grade it was probably all too sharp for her. If we drop her back in class she will be OK.”
