Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $400,000 Petaluma Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Nash Rawiller (Osipenko): “I was a lot happier after we stepped a bit better today. I’ve got to say I was shattered after his first-up run. We just drew barrier three, got caught three-wide third-last, hanging out. So, probably the worst three things you can get in a horse race.
“To only finish three and a half lengths off them I thought was very credible and thankfully the owners have stuck solid and given me another chance. It just worked out perfectly for him today, he’s a horse with good ability.
“I think he was above himself (first-up), he needed that to take the edge off him. Today he was a more professional colt. Really happy to get the job done.”

Brenton Avdulla (Zou Tiger): “He went awesome. He had the perfect spot. Just found one better on the day but will take improvement.”
Tom Sherry (Matcha Latte): “Rapt with that. He did everything correctly to fight out the finish. Will only improve as the prep goes on.”
Sam Weatherley (Pier): “He stepped slowly today which is a bit out of the ordinary. Got back and just ground away. Probably looking to run a bit further but I think we have to go back to the drawing board.”
Tim Clark (Aft Cabin): “He had to do a bit of work in the early stages. He couldn’t get a spot anywhere. I had to roll up outside the leader. By that point of the race he had done a fair bit of work. Just probably left a bit vulnerable late.”
Ryan Maloney (Williamsburg): “A terrific run. Ready to peak in the Guineas and I think he will be a live chance in that.”
Jason Collett (Communist): “Better suited with cover.”
Brett Prebble (Brosnan): “He has a lot of ability. He just probably should be a couple of pound lighter."
Zac Lloyd (Magic): “Over-raced a bit and it took the toll on him late.”
