Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Group Two Hill Stakes at Royal Randwick.
Michael Walker (Classic Uniform): “He gave me a really good kick and he was very tough. I could feel Embley coming and I could hear it coming and my horse did the same, because every time he heard it, he found a little bit more. It was a really good effort.”
Corey Brown (Sense Of Occasion): “He was a little disappointing. He had a great run in transit, travelled okay but the sprint went on at the 700m and he was very flat footed. He just whacked away up the straight, he was just a little bit on the plain side.”
Glyn Schofield (Havana Cooler): “He didn’t run much of a race at all today.”
Joao Moreira (Mackintosh): “Had a lovely run. Obviously the pace didn’t suit him and he was hanging quite badly in the straight. If there was a bit more pace in the race the story could be different.”
Blake Spriggs (Maurus): “Super. I’d love to be able to buy a gate with him, he hasn’t drawn well at his last few. I had to get a long way back on a slow tempo and then make my run from the half mile. I thought he finished off really well.”
Kerrin Mcevoy (Spectroscope): “He ran well. He didn’t step away great and then the pace was only medium. He overraced a little bit through the middle part but he’s run on well so he’ll improve with that run and maybe a bit more rain around might help him.”
Jason Collett (Embley): “Good run. Felt like we were going to get there at the furlong but he was pretty tough that winner.”
Tye Angland (Shalmaneser): “Good run. Probably surprised everyone how well he went off his last run but he travelled well. I was caught up a little bit around the corner. Probably a bit unlucky not to finish closer so I’d keep an eye on him.”
Tim Clark (Perfect Rhyme): “Got into a good spot but they just went too slow for her and she appreciates a bit more cut in the track.”
