Jockey Quotes: Coolmore Classic

Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Group One Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

Tye Angland (Heavens Above): “She’s a gutsy little filly. She’s given me a good ride over the past couple of seasons. She is little but she has got a big heart."

Blake Shinn (First Seal): “I thought she ran a good race, I had to go back from the wide draw, they went quite slow up front. First-up at 1500m it was a bit of an ask for her, especially giving weight away. She made a bit of a run until about the 200m and just knocked up late, so expect her to improve.”

Tim Clark (Dixie Blossoms): “Forget run, she had no luck.”

Josh Parr (In Her Time): “Terrific effort, full credit goes to Ben Smith and his team.”

Kerrin Mcevoy (Global Glamour): “Got a nice lead, I was pretty happy at the 600m."

Kathy O'hara (Single Gaze): “Good run from her, she is just looking for the ten furlongs.”

Jay Ford (La Bella Diosa): “Most disappointing, I was out the back and never travelled and never looked like coming into it.”

Glyn Schofield (Danish Twist): “Good turn-around from last week, she gave me a great ride.”

Sam Clipperton (Silent Sedition): “Gallant effort, unfortunately I didn’t have many options from the barrier. I must say though once I was there she travelled well, she had her ears prick and got into a great rhythm. Fought gamely to the line.”

Robert Thompson (Euro Angel): “She over-raced very badly, they went too slow.”

Daniel Moor (Thames Court): No comment available.

Christian Reith (Zanbagh): “Good run, just a little bit short for her, but she was strong at the end.”

Brenton Avdulla (Omei Sword): “Barrier beat me.” (Later found to have bled both nostrils)

Beau Mertens (Abbey Marie): “We had a beautiful spot, I was pretty happy with where we were. Travelled quite comfortably but at the 600m we were off the bit a long way from home and she just wasn’t comfortable around the turn. Once she straightened up she attacked the line well, but not as good as she can. Bit of a flat one today.”

Peter Wells (Denmagic): “She ran okay considering she didn’t handle the track. Looked like she was going to be in the finish at the top of the straight, but when I let her go, her wheels were just spinning. She’ll be better on a firmer surface.”

Andrew Adkins (Daysee Doom): “Ran enormous, landed outside the speed, travelled well and was tough late.”

Luke Tarrant (Sold For Song): “Great run, considering the calibre of horse she was up against, the run was enormous.”

Johan Victoire (Shillelagh): No comment available.
