Redzel was sent around a short priced favourite in the $500,000 G2 Hyland Race Challenge Stakes (1000m) and he didn't let his backers down, winning with the dominance we all expected from the country's best sprinter.
Redzel breaking the Randwick 1000m track record
Kerrin McEvoy (Redzel): "It was good to get him back to Randwick, he loves it here and he showed that again today. This fella was up to the challenge at the 500m, he was up and ready to go."
Jason Collett (Terravista): “I had to make a long run on him because of how far back we got. It probably wasn’t his style of race.”
Kevin Forrester (Jungle Edge): “He’s had just one jumpout this prep. Today is his second gallop this prep. I think he is a better horse than in previous preps. We’ll see how it goes in two weeks' time.”
Tim Clark (Takedown): “He went quite well first up over an unsuitable trip. I think he has come back in good order.”
Corey Brown (English): “She ran quite alright. The speed was cracking. It was mathematically impossible for me to come off the back of them.”
Blake Shinn (Super Too): “She runs on at a very fast tempo. I thought at weight-for-age she stuck on very well.”
Josh Parr (The Mission): “Too slick for him obviously but if he keeps progressing in that manner he will be just fine.”
Brenton Avdulla (Viridine): “He ran terrific in his first try at weight for age. He was really strong throughout.”
