Trapeze Artist made it four Group Ones in taking out the Canterbury League Club Stakes, with Blake Shinn taking control from the outset.
Blake Shinn (Trapeze Artist): “Once I got to the front and I had control I was never in doubt. It was a tricky race to assess but I said to (owner) Bert and (trainer) Gerald, ‘look we’ll just ride the horse, play to his strengths.’ He doesn’t like a sit-sprint so we made it a bit of a test. How are they going to beat him? On his best he’s up there with the world’s best sprinters and he proved that today.”

Tommy Berry (Pierata): “The on pace runners were just gifted the race, they went very slow and it made it very hard for him to come from where he was. He’s heading in the right direction.”
James McDonald (Kementari): “Just battled.”
Tim Clark (Shoals): “Ran well, just race fitness really, but she’s back in good order.”
Brenton Avdulla (Prompt Response): “Ran awesome, felt great. Tracked the winner, but he put a margin on us on the corner, but it was a good effort. Back against mares she’ll be hard to beat.”
Jason Collett (Cool Passion): “Tough effort, she stuck strong there in the straight.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Brutal): “Missed the kick a little bit and got a little bit keen which didn’t allow him to finish.”
