Jockey Quotes - Canonbury Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 Arrowfield Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Tim Clark (Prost): “He put the writing on the wall with his run in the Breeders’ (Plate) and then he’s come back and trialled nicely on both occasions, so he looked ready to go.

“He began well from the inside and when the other horse was racing keenly outside me I let him go and it gave him a chance to have something to chase. He was probably a sitting shot the last 100m but to his credit he pulled out plenty and held his rivals at bay.

“(Gai & Adrian’s) two-year-olds are airborne at the moment. It makes our job a lot easier when you’re getting legged onto these jets every week and you’ve just got to point them. They’ve got a good bunch of two-year-olds and they get a good line on them and they’re going well.”

Chad Schofield (Fearless): “Very good run. Didn’t possess a lot of early speed. His closing splits would have been pretty good. A horse to look out for when the trips get a bit further.”

Nash Rawiller (Traffic Warden): “He is a lovely horse. Finished off well.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Enhance): “Nice run. Improvement to come.”

Tom Sherry (King Of Roseau): “He stuck on quite nicely. He deserves a break now and will be better with time.”

Jason Collett (Pick Up The Tab): “Very green but worked home really good through the line.”
