McLaren was sent around a very short priced favourite in the $160,000 G3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) and he didn't let the punters down.
James McDonald (McLaren): "He is a real racehorse and does everything well out there. The pace was solid, he was able to get into a rhythm and finish off. He's a nice horse."
McLaren never looked like losing on debut
Tommy Berry (Spring Loaded): "He is a lovely horse but just on that ground I had to hold off going at him because I needed him to balance up first. When he did, his last furlong was great."
Glyn Schofield (Deep Chill): "He ran very well, he is very green. In his first race he overdid it and today he was very green in behind them. He has got an engine, he just needs time to mature to switch his mind on."
Tim Clark (Exceed The Stars): "He showed nice pace, travelled well. Probably back to 1000m would suit."
Kerrin McEvoy (Magnate): It was a good debut. He is going to appreciate further. It was a nice finishing effort."
Jason Collett (Crown Affair): "I liked the run, he just wants more ground."
