Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $1,000,000 Cincotta Chemist Callander-Presnell (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Tyler Schiller (Chrysaor): “Sometimes the good draws can be bad and bad draws good, but when you get on the right horses it always makes a difference.
“They assured me he was going well at home, even though his first two runs weren’t up to par. He got the great run today, was nearly a little bit unlucky at the top of the straight, but he was strong late.
“I had to hold him up and then hold his momentum and then let him go again. So to see him stretch out late I think he’s got more in store.”
Chrysaor wins the Callander-Presnell
Sam Clipperton (Snowman): “Disappointing to be beaten. He is a lovely horse and a lovely horse in the Autumn particularly over the mile. Very push button and has done a good job there.”
Jason Collett (Namesake): “He’s run well. Ran on from back. Was very neutral on him early so he was entitled too. Maybe not a strong miler.”
Adam Hyeronimus (The Little Pumper): “I thought he went great. He feels well but just didn’t jump great and had us on the back foot. No reason why he won’t win next start.”
Kathy O'Hara (Flying Trapeze): “Gave me a really honest effort today. I think he is a little bit immature but next time in he might make that type of grade.”
Ryan Maloney (Ostraka): “Unfortunately began too well. By the time I was getting him to come back underneath me, everyone found their spot and I got planted.”
Koby Jennings (Zondee): “He went really well. Just not 100% there yet. Got to keep his focus throughout the race. Will eventually make a better horse.”
Regan Bayliss (Pier Pressure): “She hit a little bit of a flat spot and started to get going late. Maybe 2000m next start.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Arctic Glamour): “I had a nice trip. Just had to force into a clear run at the top of the lane which probably wasn’t to our liking. Would have just liked to have seen her round it off a little bit better. I still think a mile is fine. Just whether she can go further on into this preparation. The best is still ahead of her.”
Dylan Gibbons (Queen Of Dragons): “She was super. A bit of a smoother run through probably goes closer without winning. Going great.”
