Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $250,000 TAB Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
James McDonald (Anamoe): “Today I really felt him just clock off with 150m to go. Trying to encourage him and he's only just put a half a length on Hinged. But great horses Hinged and Fangirl in third, it's a proper race.
“He's a phenomenal horse and the reason being he's got an amazing demeanor and conserves energy in the race like no horse I've ever ridden. He doesn't spend a penny. As a two-year-old he used to have a wow factor, putting a field away. But as these stallions get older, he's lost that.”

Brenton Avdulla (Hinged): “She has come back in really good order. She led at a controlled gallop, skipped on the bend and she tried hard taking a really good horse to beat her.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Fangirl): “Really good run. She hit the line fantastic. In for a good prep.”
Brett Prebble (Icebath): “Super. Sit, sprint which doesn’t really suit her.”
Nash Rawiller (Mo'unga): “Just sort of doughy out of the gates today. Was forced to ride him a quiet race. We just didn’t have gatespeed today. He ended up two lengths too far back. I was concerned for him pulling up. He seems to have pulled up fine. He shortened up over the line and gave me a fright. Thankfully I felt there was nothing to worry about.”
Chad Schofield (Laws Of Indices): “I thought he was brave. He’s a horse who likes to race with cover but obviously with that field full of horses resuming and the wide draw we didn’t get cover. He boxed on gamely.”
Sam Clipperton (Stockman): “Really good return. He just chased them around then. He’s got his Sydney Cup preparations underway.”
Ryan Maloney (Vega One): “Given the way the race was run, the alley was quite relevant but I thought he was going quite good through the line so back up to Queensland for the Winter.”
Rachel King (Arapaho): “Huge run first up for a stayer. Has definitely come back better than ever this preparation.”
Jason Collett (Surefire): “He worked home OK looking for further.”
Tim Clark (El Bodegon): “I wouldn’t say he stepped great and it was probably costly, settling a little bit further back. He’ll make improvement off that when he gets out over further.”
