Jockey Quotes - Angst Stakes

Find out what the beaten jockeys made of their runs in the Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Kerrin McEvoy (Dixie Blossoms): “Well done by Ronny [Quinton] he got the quinella there, he’s got two lovely race mares and it’s just a pleasure to be on her [Dixie Blossoms] back today, she is a sweetheart to ride. The Randwick mile was perfect, Ron just said to take your time with her and just to have her comfortable and she’ll finish well - he was spot on. He does a great job, he’s only got a small team and he keeps producing good winner after good winner.” “It’s very pleasing to ride one here for him today.”

Dixie Blossoms wins her second Angst Stakes

Andrew Adkins (Daysee Doom): “Top effort, she tried her heart out once again. Probably just not quite as strong as Dixie at the end of the mile her first time at it but she was only beaten three quarters of a length and she ran her top so I was very happy.”

Tim Clark (Zenalicious): “She ran really well again but Ronnie’s two mares have got the wood on her at the moment. She’s going great.”

Jason Collett (Imposing Lass): “Did too much work early. It’s not working for her at the moment, maybe change is needed.”

Brenton Avdulla (Dawn Wall): “Thought she had every chance, the winner was outside me. Just didn’t really find when I asked her to. Maybe she just wants a real, real firm surface.”

Tye Angland (Shazee Lee): “Actually really good. I was back, got her to relax, cut the corner, tried to sneak a few runs but I gave her a squeeze, she was picking up strong but as soon as I had to stop her momentum because there were no runs there she spat the bit and the race was over.”

Winona Costin (Denmagic): “I was really happy with her. She settled nice in the run, we got all the favours. Got the spilt down the straight and she hit the line good.”

Rachel King (Perfect Rhyme): “Really good run, probably just looking for further.”

Larry Cassidy (Hetty Heights): “Probably struggled to run the mile.”

Glyn Schofield (My True Love): “She had her chance out in front, just couldn’t quite sprint with them.”

Christian Reith (Savapinski): “Really tough run, she’s going to improve with some blinkers and probably 10 furlongs but ran really well.”

James Innes Jnr (Mariquita): “Typical racing pattern, went back, I was forced off the bridle a long way from home and just struggled. She’s going to go the paddock now.”
