Please see the following Interstate & Overseas Stewards Extracts for Royal Randwick this Saturday (8th April):-
Race 2. 12. APIATA (NZ) (Sandown 15/3/17) - Settled closer, tactics queried; rider stated that after beginning well and in the small field he was able to take a sit behind the leader. Lost its off fore and near hind plates in running. 13 SCREAMARR (Mornington 25/3/17) - Held up for a clear run between the 400 metres and until shifting to the outside of another runner near the 150 metres. Approaching the 150 metres lay in towards heels obliging rider to stop riding and straightened the gelding. Rider reported that his mount settled further back than expected as he did not have the early speed. He added that whilst having difficulty obtaining a clear run the gelding made good ground over the final 150 metres.
Race 3. 3. SHOALS (Flemington 18/3/17) – Jumped away awkwardly.
Race 6. 10. WHEAL LEISURE (Flemington 18/3/17) - Rider reported that the slow mid-race tempo was, in his opinion, detrimental to his mount’s chances. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality and a swab sample was taken for analysis. Trainer reported that the filly had pulled up well and it was the intention to continue on with its preparation.
Race 8. 3. ALMOONQITH (Mornington 25/3/17) - Change of tactics – To race further back from the wide barrier. Settled at the rear of the field. Passing the 400 metres was steadied when tightened. 4. TALLY (Mornington 25/3/17) - Began awkwardly, shifted in and made slight contact with another runner. 9. MISTER IMPATIENCE (GB) (Ellerslie 16/3/17) - Steadied away from the heels rounding the bend approaching the 400 metres. Rider was unable to offer any tangible excuse for poor performance with a post-race veterinary inspection not finding any apparent abnormality.
Race 9. 11. JESSY BELLE (Flemington 18/3/17) - Checked near the 300 metres when attempting a narrow run.
