Race 7 Number 9 – Marsupial - Rider Ben Melham was of the opinion the colt would be improved by the anti-clockwise way of racing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. (Caulfield 11/2/17)
Race 7 Number 13 – From Within - Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with another runner. Held up rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the filly’s performance jockey H. Bowman stated that while he had raced in behind runners he was unable to secure clear running approaching the home turn and had to switch back to the inside, which in his opinion was inferior ground and the filly only ran home fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. (Gold Coast 14/1/17)
Race 8 Number 16 – Penny Shares - Over-raced in the early stages and near the 900m had to be steadied off the heels of Ghenwaa (Regan Bayliss); Regan Bayliss was advised to show greater caution. Passing the 150m was bumped by Precision Timing that shifted out to obtain clear running when awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring Dugan (NZ). (Cranbourne 23/12/16)
