Hawkesbury apprentice Chelsea Ings won’t want this month to end.
The 22-year-old’s memorable May continued at Bathurst when she scored on local gelding Destiny’s Joker in the 4YO and Upwards Maiden Handicap (1300m).
Ings answered a call from Bathurst trainer Peter Stanley to ride three of his horses at the meeting – and clinched her fifth winner for the month.
In a Hawkesbury-dominated race, Ings came out on top on $7 chance Destiny’s Joker, defeating Quite Unexpected ($4) and Red Centre Ruby ($21). The placegetters are both trained at Hawkesbury by Peter Green and Mitch Kearney respectively.
Ings’ success on Destiny’s Joker, a five-year-old by Strategic, lifted her career tally to 18.
She rode a double (Leroska and Fairisle Miss for Mudgee trainer Brett Thompson) at the Cobar non-TAB meeting on May 6 and then repeated the feat at Dubbo on May 14, scoring on Fairy Shadow and Epic Decision.
The Dubbo wins provided the young rider with her first double at a TAB meeting, in her most successful season to date.
Ings also finished third on $10 chance Flying By in the Benchmark 55 Handicap (1200m) and sixth on her recent Dubbo winner Fairy Shadow ($16) in the Class 1 Handicap (1300m).
