In-Form Mare A Hellava Chance For Parr (Wyong Sunday)

By John Schell

Form mare Hellavadancer will attempt to snare a Listed victory when the Kris Lees trained five-year-old lines up in Sunday’s Domeland Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) at Wyong.

Lees has prepared Hellavadancer for six wins from 26 starts, with a further seven placings to her name, and jockey Joshua Parr takes the ride in Sunday’s $200,000 feature at Wyong.

“Her form is very strong, you can’t fault it,” Parr said.

“She won a couple at Eagle Farm last campaign, and since resuming from a spell she’s been in great form."

She resumed with a fourth behind Kazou at Rosehill, then ran second at Randwick and third at Rosehill, before impressing when scoring at Rosehill at her latest start.

“She’s a mare in form, and is a winner at Wyong over the distance. She looks well placed.”

Rivals to Hellavadancer include the Jarrod Austin trained and Nash Rawiller ridden Terra Mater, which resumed from a spell with a close-up second behind Kazou at Rosehill.

Terra Mater has built a good record, and ran well in the Provincial-Midway Championships events in the autumn before being spelled.

Parr, meanwhile, has a number of good rides at Wyong, with the Bjorn Baker trained Line Of Fire awaiting in the Wyong Leagues Group Class 1 Handicap (1625m).

“I rode him the other day at Hawkesbury and he ran well when third behind High Dandy despite being beaten by a big margin,'' he said.

"High Dandy has since won in town so the form looks strong. He’s drawn well so should race handy and take plenty of getting past in the straight.”

Parr and Baker combine again when Luna Field contests the De Bortoli Wines Maiden Plate (1000m), with that galloper being placed in four of six starts.

“He has some handy form and looks a good chance from the inside barrier,” said Parr.

Parr will also partner the Nathan Doyle trained Reigning King in the Johnnie Roberts Memorial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1000m).

“All my rides look to have good chances so here’s hoping we can have a bit of luck,” said Parr.
