Sydney’s iconic $5 million Longines Golden Slipper – Australian Turf Club’s flagship race and the world’s richest race for two-year-olds – headlines Australia’s biggest day of Group 1 racing at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.

Five Group 1 races – the most of any one raceday in the southern hemisphere – are part of day two of Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, featuring world-class racing and live entertainment across the racecourse.

Australian Turf Club will also continue to raise funds for flood-affected racing communities across NSW through the sale of official Longines Golden Slipper pins on course, adding to the $50,000 already to be donated through the ATC Foundation.

A full field of 16 runners will contest the Group 1 $5 million Longines Golden Slipper, increased in prizemoney by Racing NSW and the ATC in 2022 for the 66^th running to become Sydney’s richest Autumn race.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering, James Ross said the Longines Golden Slipper field was amongst the strongest ever in the race’s history.

“We are very pleased to have winners from all of the major two-year-old races along with Sydney’s pathway Autumn features compete at Rosehill Gardens for the ultimate prize, the $5 million Longines Golden Slipper," Mr Ross said.

“Saturday’s Longines Golden Slipper has the first three from the Golden Gift, the unbeaten winner of the Silver Slipper Stakes, the quinella from the Magic Millions and the trifecta from the Blue Diamond together in the one race.

“Five Group 1 races on a world-class program featuring Australia’s best horses, trainers and jockeys make this Saturday at Rosehill Gardens amongst Sydney’s best sporting and entertainment events all year."

In the Group 1 $5 million Longines Golden Slipper, unbeaten filly Coolangatta trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace and ridden by champion Sydney jockey James McDonald has been $4-$4.50 TAB favourite since Tuesday’s barrier draw.

Colt Sejardan – looking to give Warwick Farm trainer Gary Portelli a second Longines Golden Slipper and jockey Jason Collett his first – has been supported from $7-$6 with TAB after drawing barrier seven.

Portelli also trains filly Fireburn ($15-$11) for jockey Brenton Avdulla, himself shooting for a second Longines Golden Slipper trophy.

Silver Slipper winner Best Of Bordeaux (jockey Sam Clipperton) has been $11-$8 as the unbeaten colt aims to give Kacy Fogden a first Longines Golden Slipper winner and only the second victorious female trainer behind the legendary record-holder Gai Waterhouse.

Filly She’s Extreme has also been well backed $11-$8 as trainer Anthony Cummings looks for his first win in the race and jockey Brett Prebble his second. Jockey Tommy Berry could equal the all-time jockey record for the Longines Golden Slipper with a fourth win – riding Russian Conquest ($9-$13) for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.

Gai Waterhouse – who holds the individual trainers record of seven wins (including one with training partner Adrian Bott) saddles up colt Rise Of The Masses ($34-$51) with jockey Tim Clark aboard.

Australian Horse Of The Year, Verry Elleegant is aiming for a 12th Group 1 victory and a second consecutive win in the race in Saturday’s $700,000 Ranvet Stakes.

She is a strong $1.35 TAB favourite on her home track for Sydney’s champion trainer Chris Waller and star jockey James McDonald, ahead of three-time Group 1 winner Montefilia for Rosehill Gardens trainer David Payne and jockey Jason Collett.

The Group 1 $1 million The Agency George Ryder Stakes sees Mo’unga open a well-supported $4.80-$4.20 TAB favourite to record his third Group 1 win for trainer Annabel Neasham and jockey Tommy Berry.

In-form, multiple Group 1 winning mare Forbidden Love is $4.20-$4.40 for trainers Richard and Michael Freedman and jockey Hugh Bowman, ahead of dual Group 1 acceptor Converge ($6.50-$6) trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and with jockey Tim Clark. Collectively, The Agency George Ryder Stakes field has won almost $30 million in prizemoney.

The Group 1 $700,000 Furphy Galaxy has attracted a capacity field headed in TAB Markets by Isotope ($3.60-$3.80) for Queensland trainer Tony Gollan and jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

The Group 1 $600,000 Sky Active Rosehill Guineas sees three of Australia’s best colts down to clash – Anamoe for James Cummings and James McDonald ($1.95), dual acceptor Converge ($3.50) and the talented Profondo ($5) for Warwick Farm trainer Richard Litt and jockey Hugh Bowman.

Following the final race on Saturday global DJ sensation Joel Corry will entertain racegoers undercover at the rear of the JR Fleming Stand. The performance is included in all tickets. The Rosehill Gardens track is rated a Soft 7 on Wednesday.
