Trainer Ciaron Maher has today notified Racing NSW Stewards that I AM ME, which has been selected to run in the TAB Everest on Saturday, 19 October 2024, was noticed to have had blood present at the right nostril after having competed in a barrier trial at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Friday, 4 October 2024.
Mr Maher has been advised that, under the provisions of AR79(8), I AM ME will be required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward before being cleared to race. A Racing NSW Veterinary Officer will also be in attendance when I AM ME undergoes this test.
Racing NSW Stewards will conduct an inquiry into Mr Maher’s failure to adhere to the provisions of AR79(7) by the delay in the reporting of this matter to the Stewards.
AR79(7)&(8) states:
AR 79 Horses with bleeding
(7) If a horse displays blood at one nostril, the trainer must report that to the Stewards without delay.
(8) Unless the Stewards are satisfied that the presence of blood referred to in subrule 7 is attributable to external trauma, then before racing again the horse is required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward.
