Huge Support From Wyong For Equimillion (Review All Candidates)

Eleven horses will represent #teamwyong at this weekend’s Equimillion.

Wyong Race Club has sponsored eight horses and leading Wyong trainer Kim Waugh has sponsored three horses in the upcoming $1million Equimillion event.

Supported by Racing NSW, Equimillion is exclusively for retired racehorses and will be run over the coming October long weekend at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. The event will encompass eventing, jumping, dressage and show horse categories.

Sponsored by Wyong Race Club, Jackie Hill who works as a stablehand will participate in dressage and show horse categories, Jessica Rae who works as a trackwork rider in show jumping and eventing, jockey Jenny Duggan in show jumping and eventing, Amelia Coates in dressage and show jumping, Krissy Harris in show jumping and Rebecca Brown in show horse and dressage categories.

Kim Waugh will sponsor Wyong-based trainers, mother and daughter combination Tina Williams and Amanda Davis in show horse, show jumping and dressage categories.

Wyong Race Club's Chief Executive, Greg Purcell said the club was thrilled to be supporting such a talented group of equestrians.

“It is a great concept by Racing NSW and will definitely create more awareness for people interested in rehoming racehorses,” he said.

“We are excited to be able to throw our support behind this talented pool of competitors, who have the best interest of rehomed horses at heart. I also commend Kim Waugh for her support.”

Waugh was complimentary of the Equimillion concept: “I love my horses and they love to race, but I really enjoy watching them succeed in their second career after racing,” she said.

“I’m excited to see how they progress in this competition, which is providing great incentive for people to take on retired Thoroughbreds.”
