Hawkesbury Winners - Tips For Thursday 7th September

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday's Hawkesbury meeting. Selections based on a good track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 12:50PM ANGELS FLORIST/WINDSOR GAS CONVERSIONS M (1300 METRES)

9. Broadcaster's debut run at this track/distance 21 days ago was full of merit after having factors against him. The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace galloper got too far back in a slow tempo and was checked/blocked at a critical stage in the straight, but once balancing up, he savaged the line to clock the second fastest final 200m split of the meeting. Further, that race produced a high rating last section, and there has been a subsequent winner to confirm the form. All key indicators suggest he can only improve off that effort and will have benefited from the race experience.

Dangers: 5. Marenaro, who resumes here, is a key late market watch and has had one recent trial at Randwick leading into this assignment. The three-year-old had the race shape against in both his runs last prep and ran hidden closing sectionals on those occasions. He will be suited over more ground and deeper into a prep, but he has talent. 1. There There is rock-hard fit, maps to have all favours and 3. Big Boy George will be fitter from his first-up effort.

How to play it: Broadcaster WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Broadcaster runs third at Hawkesbury on August 17

Race 2 - 1:25PM GRIFFIN AIR CONDITIONING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Ganbare has a positive race setup here and brings Group form lines to this event. The three-year-old sat outside the leader in a moderate tempo first-up at Rosehill in a stronger grade and kept trying to the line to finish fourth. The Waterhouse & Bott galloper has had a tick-over trial since; his sectional profile suggests he can only improve into this event, and the blinkers go on for the first time. Additionally, he maps to control the pace of the race and brings the clear best last start figure.

Dangers: 4. Bella Tivaci was an alarming drifter in the betting first-up at Newcastle and battled on ok to finish sixth whilst racing in the inferior ground. She can bounce off that effort and last start winner 5. Long Genes draws well at her home track. 6. Zizette is rock-hard fit and receives a senior rider.

How to play it: Ganbare WIN ($1.33 TAB Fixed Odds) & Exacta 1 / 4.

Ganbare wins a trial at Randwick on August 25

Race 3 - 2:05PM ONTRAK GROUP PROVINCIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1500 METRES)

1. Mr Papera is a consistent type and was only narrowly beaten last start at Wyong after being heavily backed late in the trade. The gelding was honest in defeat after leading at an even tempo and went down fighting to hold on for second. He sets up well here with a dominant ratings profile, is at optimal fitness with a positive map and is returning to his home track. Expect him to be hard to run down.

Dangers: 12. Riley Park is rising sharply in distance but is ready to improve third-up over more ground. He hasn't been suited in both runs this time and can settle closer in this event. 7. Criminal Art hasn't been suited to the sit/sprint race shapes, and she can improve with a more anticipated genuine tempo. Forgive 6. Obviously Albert's last start at Quirindi where he had the track pattern against and 2. Windmill Road is a solid on-pace type. Market watch on first-starter 3. Cosmic Lad who has trialled well enough.

How to play it: Mr Papera WIN ($1.95 TAB Fixed Odds).

Mr Papera runs second last start at Wyong on August 27

Race 4 - 2:40PM RICHMOND CLUB CG&E MAIDEN PLATE (1100 METRES)

12. Royal Tribute profiles well for this event, and he gets in well under the race conditions. The three-year-olds debut run was full of merit at Rosehill last prep when running second to the smart Ozzmosis, and he beat the rest easily. The colt's performance/figure is dominant relative to the rivals he faces here, and repeating that effort will make him hard to beat. Further, he has trialled well, winning two recent heats at Randwick, and he has the early speed to cross from the wide draw.

Dangers: 6. Seton Hall resumes, and both of his run last campaign had sectional merit. He looks to have come back improved, and he showed a sharp turn of foot when hitting the line strongly in a recent heat at Rosehill. The Hawkes trained galloper has ability and will be charging late. 10. Laser Beam returns as a gelding, and he was honest on debut at this track last campaign in a strong time race. 11. Rapido maps to have all favours.

How to play it: Royal Tribute WIN ($1.75 TAB Fixed Odds).

Royal Tribute wins a trial at Rosehill on August 25

Race 5 - 3:20PM BEDROCK QUARRY PRODUCTS & BULK TRANSPORT BM 64 HCP (2000 M)

4. Celestial Fury has improved this preparation and bolted in last start at Gosford, running a career peak figure. The five-year-old had all favours leading at a very slow pace, but he showed a long-sustained sprint, clocked one of the fastest 600m-200m splits of the meeting and maintained a strong finishing speed to the line to win by a dominant 2.5 lengths. He is a consistent type with a positive map, and repeating his previous performance/figure will make him hard to catch. In addition, Mitchell Bell rides, who has a fantastic affiliation with the gelding, riding him three times for one win and two seconds.

Dangers: 5. Golden Passport was honest last start running second at Wyong 11 days ago. The Waterhouse & Bott galloper is set to improve third-up over more ground with a solid platform and a strong SP profile. 1. Mr Bond returns to his home track and is proven over this distance range. Further, he is rock-hard fit and drops in grade.

How to play it: Celestial Fury WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 3:55PM FOWLER CIVIL CONTRACTING PTY LTD M (1100 METRES)

Debutante 9. Kostroma is a nice type and won a recent trial at Rosehill in style. Further, she travelled strongly throughout, responded well under pressure, ran solid time relative to the morning and went through the line full of energy. The 1100m suits first-up; she can roll forward and find a favourable position.

Dangers: 11. Missouk returns after a strong debut last campaign at Warwick Farm in a high-rating race when running second to subsequent winner Dipsy Doodle. She's won a recent trial leading into this, and maps well here. 12. Pier Pressure has a Group 1 placing to her name, and she is well-suited under the race conditions. Although suited over more ground, she can sprint fresh and expect her to be in the finish. 4. Zahdi is a potential big improver back at her home track and receives a gear change. Add 6. Belyaev and 3. Narrative to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Kostroma WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 4:35PM REDBANK NORTH RICHMOND BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Serene Nic is an improving type, and she overcame the race shape last start at Newcastle to score. The mare settled at the rear of the field and made a long-wide sustained run before powering over her rivals. Further, the clock backed her powerful finish with her recording the fastest final 200m split of the entire meeting. The Mattew Smith trained galloper can settle closer with a significant barrier change and has proven she can sprint off slow/fast tempos. Each-way.

Dangers: 8. Konasana, who is resuming, profiles well for this and has trialled well going through the line full of energy in her two recent heats. She won well on debut at Kensington and then was immediately spelled, giving every indication she would come back improved. Hard to beat from the soft draw. 10. Two Up is rock-hard fit and can control the pace here. 1. Spatlet will be fitter from his first-up effort, and 3. Obvious Step is consistent coming off the back of a last-start win.

How to play it: Serene Nic E/W ($8.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Serene Nic wins last start at Newcastle on August 19

Race 8 - 5:15PM BLOSSOM HAIR, BODY, FACE & WIG BOUTIQUE BM64 (1100 METRES)

Leaning towards 12. Saks On Fifth who had no luck first-up at Gosford when having the race shape against and then was checked/blocked for the majority of the straight. Further, once clear over the concluding stages, her final few bounds had merit, and she can bounce off that performance. The anticipated genuine tempo will allow her to build through her gears and have the last shot with Jason Collett riding for the first time.

Dangers: Another one down in the weights is 13.Yankees, a potential big improver back to her home track and maps to have all favours. Key market watch on 4. Cripps Tonite who resumes for his new trainer, Nathan Doyle, and he brings strong form lines/figures to this event. Moreover, he has trialled well and has a favourable map. Add 6. Fludway to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Saks On Fifth WIN ($12 TAB Fixed Odds) & Yankees WIN ($19 TAB Fixed Odds).
