Hartnell disappointed in his latest outing being beaten nine lengths but the Godolphin stable are confident that he’ll bounce back in the Group One Ranvet Stakes (2000m) on a bumper card at Rosehill on Saturday.
“He has come through the run very well and has a spring back in his step,” said Godolphin assistant trainer Darren Beadman.
“He seems to be back to himself. He gets a bit pushy after his work – pushing his strappers around and work riders so he is showing his normal traits now.”
“Hopefully he can get a better run. He was three deep no cover which probably told over the concluding stages. He is horse that likes to stalk so we’ll just leave that in the capable hands of Will (Buick).”
“Getting away from Winx is going to help and he loves Rosehill.”

Taking on Winx will be left to stablemate Hauraki in the George Ryder, where he’ll also have Chautauqua, Le Romain and Tosen Stardom for company.
“It’s a tough race but he put the writing on the wall first-up with a run that had a lot of merit. He loomed up to be in the finish but his fitness gave out.”
“The Doncaster is the race that John (O’Shea) has really geared him for so this will top him off nicely.”

William Buick will ride six for Godolphin on Saturday, including Trekking in the Golden Slipper, but also gets the plum steer on Hartnell.
“He’s a nice horse and a very classy horse. He is not taking on Winx for the first time in a long time so it will be nice for him to get his head in front and I just hope I can get the job done on him.”
“He has got great form over the trip. You could say it’s his optimum.”
Buick also rides Demolition in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) after he strung together two impressive wins last campaign and the UK-based jockey suggested he's a horse capable of rising through the grades over the autumn.
“I trialled him at Warwick Farm last Thursday and he trialled really well. The team are very happy with him.”
