The TAB Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) run on Saturday, 2nd October 2021.
A total of 90 nominations have been weighed for the 156th running of The TAB Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), to be staged at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 2nd October 2021.
This year’s edition of the TAB Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) will be run for $1,500,000 (an increase of $500,000 on the previous year) with a 50.0kg minimum weight (48kg minimum for 3yos).

The honour of topweight this year has been given to three-time Group 1 winner, Kolding (NZ) with 58.0kg.
Kolding (NZ) won the 2019 Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), the 2020 Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m), 2021 Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) as well as the inaugural $7.5 million The Golden Eagle (1500m) in 2019.
Next in line on 57.5kg is Zaaki (GB), a dominant winner of the 2021 Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) and the recent winner of the 2021 Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m).
Other notable nominations are Think It Over allocated with 57.0kg, winner of the 2021 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and the 2021 Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m).
Mo’unga (NZ), winner of the 2021 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and the 2021 Group 1 Winx Stakes (1600m), has been asked to carry 56.5kg while reigning Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) champion Cascadian (GB) will carry 56.0kg.
The highest weighted mare will be three-time Group 1 winner Probabeel (NZ), who has been allocated 56.5kg. Probabeel (NZ) won the 2020 Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m), the 2021 Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and is also the reigning Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) champion.
There are five 3-year-old horses nominated, with the 2021 Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) winner Captivant as well as the 2021 Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) winner Converge being notable nominations. All 3yo horses have been allocated the 48.0kg minimum.
