Greg Purcell Announced Wyong's New General Manager

Wyong has announced Greg Purcell as the club’s new General Manger.

Mr Purcell brings an abundance of racing experience to his new position, through several decades in the industry.

The former Chief Executive of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing will take over the reins at Wyong on Tuesday 8 August.

“I’m very passionate about the racing industry and its participants,” he said.

“I have worked in many aspects of racing going back many years as a stable hand, bookmaker’s clerk, bookmaker, an owner and a breeder.

“In recent years I have been consulting in the racing, wagering and the sporting sector. I have been across a large number of roles, and this has given me a strong understanding of racing.”

Mr Purcell said he was looking forward to progressing the strong position the club is currently in.

“I want Wyong to be the best community centered club in the country. I’m looking forward to working with Racing NSW to support the further development of our facilities and other initiatives.”

Club Chairman John Waghorn said they were excited to have Mr Purcell at the club.

“He is well credentialled in racing and will be a great asset to the club moving forward.”
