Golden Gift Showcases Slipper Contenders At Rosehill Gardens

Saturday’s $150,000 Golden Gift at Rosehill Gardens provides an early chance for connections to stake claims for the iconic $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper, the world’s richest race for two year olds.

Golden Slipper winning trainers Peter and Paul Snowden, Hawkes Racing, and Gary Portelli all have runners in Saturday’s race, along with Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller, and James Cummings’ powerful Godolphin team.

Godolphin’s Plague Stone has opened $1.80 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, ahead of Portelli’s Secret Lady ($4 TAB Fixed Odds) and the Snowdens’ Cosimo ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

The Golden Gift is one of the features of Thoroughbred Breeders NSW Race Day, along with the hugely popular $100,000 Country Classic, a 2000m event for country trained horses.

The Country Classic has attracted a capacity field of 18 runners plus emergencies.

The Rosehill Gardens track was rated a Good 4 this morning.

Racegoers can pre-purchase the $39 Punters Pack – valued at $89 – at http://www.theraces.com.au

The Punters Pack includes entry, two standard drinks, a food pack, reserved seating in the grandstand, a racebook and access to the Punters Pack area within the Chantilly Bar.
